Background: Effective treatments are now available, which have demonstrated reductions in amyloid plaque burden while slowing cognitive decline in early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease (AD). Intervening before onset of cognitive impairment could provide greater benefit, particularly for individuals who carry an autosomal dominant mutation known to cause AD. To better guide the design of upcoming prevention trials, reliable sample size estimates for detecting relevant reductions in pathology are needed.

Background: Trauma-induced coagulopathy is common and associated with poor outcomes in injured children. Our aim was to identify patterns of coagulopathy after injury using endothelial, platelet, and coagulation biomarkers, and associate these phenotypes with relevant patient factors and clinical outcomes in a pediatric trauma cohort.

Knee osteoarthritis is experienced by hundreds of millions of people worldwide and is a major cause of disability. Although enhancing physical activity levels and the participation in exercise programmes has been proved to improve the debilitating illness of osteoarthritis, many do not engage in recommended levels of physical activity. One of the reported barriers to exercise engagement is the perception that physical activity can damage joint health and is attributed to the incorrect perception of 'wear and tear'.
