View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground/objective: Little is known about the rates of rheumatic disease diagnosis among children during the COVID-19 pandemic. We examined the impact of the pandemic on the diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in the United States.
Methods: We performed a historical cohort study using US commercial insurance data (2016-2021) to identify children aged <18 years without prior JIA diagnosis or treatment in the prior ≥12 months.
Obesity is a risk factor for developing breast cancer, and significantly increases mortality rates in patients diagnosed with this disease. Drivers of this unfortunate relationships are multifactorial, with obesity-induced changes in the epigenetic state of breast cancer cells being identified as a critical mechanism that impact survival, metastasis, and therapeutic responses. Recent studies have investigated the epigenetic landscape of breast cancer to elucidate the molecular interplay between the breast tissue epigenome and its cellular microenvironment.

Objective: This article sought to explore how older people maintained their health and managed chronic conditions during the 2019-2020 Black Summer bushfires, floods, and COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. This knowledge is important in the context of intersecting public health and environmental hazards.
Methods: Qualitative, semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 19 community-dwelling older people living in South Eastern New South Wales, a region significantly impacted by the successive disasters.
