Maternal medication use may expose the developing fetus through placental transfer or the infant through lactational transfer. Because pregnant and lactating individuals have been historically excluded from early drug development trials, there is often limited to no human data available to inform pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety in these populations at the time of drug approval. We describe the known mechanisms of placental or lactational transfer of IgG-based therapeutic proteins and use clinical examples to highlight the potential for fetal or infant exposure during pregnancy and lactation.

Here we report a blastocyst motif substrate for the in vitro reversion of mouse and human pluripotent stem cells to a naive state. The substrate features randomly varied microstructures, which we call motifs, mimicking the geometry of the blastocyst.

This case report outlines the clinical course of a 68-year-old female patient who presented to the emergency department (ED) with persistent right lower quadrant pain. Despite multiple hospital visits yielding varied diagnoses, a definitive diagnosis was only made following a laparoscopic partial colectomy, which revealed chronic idiopathic ulcers with transmural scarring and adhesions to adjacent small intestine loops.
