Treatment for substance use disorder in mothers of young children: A systematic review of maternal substance use and child mental health outcomes.

Substance use disorders (SUD) in mothers of young children can negatively impact the family unit and promote the intergenerational cycle of mental health disorders. This systematic review aims to: 1) provide an overview of substance use treatments for mothers of young children (from birth to 5 years old); 2) synthesize findings on maternal substance use and child/maternal mental health outcomes; and 3) identify key treatment components. Database searches in Medline, PsycINFO, PubMED, and PsycARTICLES were conducted on May 7th, 2024.

Young mothers and eHealth: a scoping review.

Purpose: Young mothers, defined as those age 25 and under, are at an increased risk of experiencing mental health problems. Despite this increased risk, very few mental health and parenting interventions that target the unique needs of this group are available. This scoping review summarized extant research on mental health and parenting eHealth interventions aimed at young mothers.

Cerebral blood flow and arterial transit time responses to exercise training in older adults.

Brain vascular health worsens with age, as is made evident by resting grey matter cerebral blood flow (CBF) reductions and lengthening arterial transit time (ATT). Exercise training can improve aspects of brain health in older adults, yet its effects on CBF and ATT remain unclear. This randomised controlled trial assessed responses of CBF and ATT to a 26 week exercise intervention in 65 healthy older adults (control: n = 33, exercise: n = 32, aged 60-81 years), including whether changes in CBF or ATT were associated with changes in cognitive functions.

Seasonal environmental fluctuations alter the transcriptome dynamics of oocytes and granulosa cells in beef cows.

Background: Examining the mechanistic cellular responses to heat stress could aid in addressing the increasing prevalence of decreased fertility due to elevated ambient temperatures. Here, we aimed to study the differential responses of oocytes and granulosa cells to thermal fluctuations due to seasonal differences. Dry beef cows (n = 10) were housed together, synchronized and subjected to a stimulation protocol to induce follicular growth before ovum pick-up (OPU).
