Successful Retirement Planning for Endocrinologists.

The Endocrine Society formally addressed the issue of retirement for its members for the first time in a Workshop held on June 4 at ENDO 2024 in Boston, Massachusetts. Preparation for the workshop included 4 steps: (1) completion of a survey; (2) advice from a retirement expert; (3) extensive literature review; and (4) multiple pre-workshop discussions among the presenters. The survey found that retired endocrinologists are involved in a wide variety of professional and nonprofessional activities.

Emergence of high-level aztreonam-avibactam and cefiderocol resistance following treatment of an NDM-producing bloodstream isolate exhibiting reduced susceptibility to both agents at baseline.

Background: Cefiderocol (FDC) or ceftazidime-avibactam with aztreonam (CZA-ATM) are frontline agents for New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM)-producing Enterobacterales; however, clinical data are scarce, and mechanisms of treatment-emergent resistance are ill-defined. Our objectives were to characterize serial isolates and stool microbiota from a liver transplant recipient with NDM-producing bacteraemia.

Methods: Isolates collected pre- and post-CZA-ATM treatment underwent broth microdilution susceptibility testing and whole-genome sequencing.

Examining Health Disparities and Severity of Depression among Sexual Minorites in a National Population Sample.

Background: Health disparities and mental health issues have not been fully explored among sexual minorities. This study aims to examine health disparities and severity of depression among sexual minorities using a nationally representative sample of the US population. Methods: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 2011 to 2016 were analyzed.

Capsule Machine Validation.

Instrumentation has become an integral function for any compounding operation, particularly for hard-gelatin capsules. This study examined the use of a capsule machine in a simulated compounding operation. It is an instrument that is reasonably priced and can deliver 24 capsules within ten minutes of operation.

Our way of being: Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health workforce development in Tennessee.

The optimal relational experiences of infants and young children demand a cross-sector workforce informed by Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) principles and practices. A recent review by the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health, Inc identified seven themes that help define "What makes an IECMH association strong?": (1) Identity, (2) Cross-Systems Collaborations, (3) Sound Organizational Structure, (4) Competency-Informed Training, (5) Reflective Supervision Capacity, (6) Policy, and (7) Higher Education. The present paper documents the story of the Association of Infant Mental Health in Tennessee (AIMHiTN) and the role of the Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting IECMH in that growth across those seven themes with the additional themes of (8) Funding and, (9) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
