Biting midges ( spp.) are important vectors of several insect borne arboviruses but are underrepresented in terms of availability of high-resolution genomic resources. We assembled and annotated complete mitochondrial genomes for two species, namely and which are proven vectors for Bluetongue Virus (BTV).

Methods: A multidisciplinary panel comprised of 15 members representing radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and surgical oncologists specializing in the treatment of breast cancer conducted an analysis of the medical literature from January 1, 2011 to April 1, 2024.

As digital healthcare evolves, the security of electronic health records (EHR) becomes increasingly crucial. This study presents the GPT-Onto-CAABAC framework, integrating Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT), medical-legal ontologies and Context-Aware Attribute-Based Access Control (CAABAC) to enhance EHR access security. Unlike traditional models, GPT-Onto-CAABAC dynamically interprets policies and adapts to changing healthcare and legal environments, offering customized access control solutions.

Genomic analysis of surgical patients to identify patients at risk for postoperative sepsis and surgical site infection.

Background: Early and accurate diagnosis of sepsis and the ensuing organ dysfunction remain a challenge in the postoperative setting. Susceptibility to infections, as well as the subsequent immunological response, are driven to some extent by the genetic predisposition of the patient. The purpose of this study was to identify novel genetic variants associated with postoperative sepsis (POS) and surgical site infections (SSIs).

Characteristics of abdominal herniation and its associations among patients operated in a Sudanese tertiary hospital: a retrospective review.

Background & Aims: Hernia is a very common surgical condition affecting all ages and both sexes. Data regarding abdominal wall hernias is essential to hernia management in an institution. With the absence of data regarding the prevalence, characteristics, and associations of abdominal wall hernias in Sudanese patients, we aimed to describe and find the possible differences in the spectrum of abdominal hernias, their rates, and associated predisposing factors.
