An Evaluation of the Content Quality, Readability, and Reliability of Publicly Available Web-Based Information on Pneumothorax Surgery in Ireland.

Introduction The internet is increasingly the first port of call for patients introduced to new treatments. Unfortunately, many websites are of poor quality, thereby limiting patients' ability to make informed health decisions. Within thoracic surgery, the treatment options for pneumothoraces may be less intuitive for patients to understand compared to procedures such as lobectomies and wedge resections.

Objective improvement with coronary anastomosis simulation training: meta-analysis.

Background: Coronary artery anastomosis training and assessment are vital for patient safety and for conferring a prognostic benefit. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to analyse the impact of simulation on coronary anastomosis proficiency in terms of time taken and skill score.

Methods: This review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines, searching PubMed, Embase and Cochrane databases on 10 October 2020, using the terms 'Coronary anastomosis simulation' or 'vascular anastomosis simulation' and 'anastomosis simulation'.

Mitral valve replacement due to Libman-Sacks endocarditis: lower limb cellulitis as a red herring.

A 56-year-old woman was admitted due to new ulceration and acute digital ischaemia on a background of chronic leg ulcers bilaterally. Vasculitis screening returned strongly positive lupus anticoagulant levels and elevated anticardiolipin antibodies; these remained elevated at repeat testing. A diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome was made.

Solitary fibrous tumour of mediastinum: an often asymptomatic neoplasm.

Solitary fibrous tumours (SFTs) are rare neoplasms derived from mesenchymal cell lines. They are often asymptomatic, follow an indolent growth pattern and are more often benign than malignant. Here, we present a case of a very large, asymptomatic mediastinal SFT in an otherwise healthy man.

Coexistent sarcoidosis and lymphangioleiomyomatosis in a patient with cystic lung disease.

A 45-year-old lady presented acutely with pleuritic chest pain, haemoptysis, and dyspnoea. Her background was significant for a 1.4 cm renal angiomyolipoma, and she was an ex-smoker without any relevant family history.
