Values and beliefs on trainee selection: What counts in the eye of the selector? A qualitative study exploring the program director's perspective.

Objectives: Postgraduate trainee selection is a high-stakes process. While many studies focused on selection methods and psychometrics, little is known about the influence of selectors' personal values and beliefs in the judgment and decision-making process. A better understanding of these factors is vital since selectors determine the future workforce.

Response and Side Effects Using Stimulant Medication in Older Adults With ADHD: An Observational Archive Study.

To examine the naturalistic response to and cardiovascular side effects of stimulant medication in older adults with ADHD. Electronic Health Record (EHR) data of adult patients with ADHD (≥55 years) at the specialized PsyQ outpatient clinic for adult ADHD ( = 113, 55-79 years) were collected. Response, cardiovascular status, side effects, and provided medical care before and after the first ADHD medication dose have been recorded.

Why do trainees leave hospital-based specialty training? A nationwide survey study investigating factors involved in attrition and subsequent career choices in the Netherlands.

Objective: To gain insight into factors involved in attrition from hospital-based medical specialty training and future career plans of trainees who prematurely left their specialty training programme.

Design: Nationwide online survey study.

Setting: Postgraduate education of all hospital-based specialties in the Netherlands.

Encouraging residents' professional development and career planning: the role of a development-oriented performance assessment.

Background: Current postgraduate medical training programmes fall short regarding residents' development of generic competencies (communication, collaboration, leadership, professionalism) and reflective and deliberate practice. Paying attention to these non-technical skills in a structural manner during postgraduate training could result in a workforce better prepared for practice. A development-oriented performance assessment (PA), which assists residents with assessment of performance and deliberately planned learning activities, could potentially contribute to filling this gap.

Vaginal misoprostol prior to insertion of an intrauterine device: an RCT.

Background: Misoprostol is an agent that may ripen the cervix in nonpregnant women. Here, we investigate whether vaginal misoprostol administered prior to intrauterine device (IUD) insertion reduces the number of failed insertions, insertion-related complications and pain during insertion.

Methods: We conducted a double-blinded, multicenter randomized controlled trial among patients requesting an IUD.
