Wrist stiffness can occur after injury to the wrist and surrounding structures. Frequently hand therapists treat this stiffness with static-progressive splinting techniques in an attempt to lengthen shortened tissues through tissue growth and collagen reorganization. The hand therapist's goal is to fabricate a splint that effectively increases range of motion in a timely and cost-effective manner.
