Background: Despite the established importance of the United States Medical License Exam (USMLE) and Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) status in orthopedic residency selection, their significance in the fellowship match remains unknown. This study evaluates the influence of USMLE scores and AOA status on interview invitation rates and match positions for shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship applicants.

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of data from the San Francisco Match database from 2018 to 2023.

Declining Rate of International Medical Graduates Matching Into Orthopedic Surgery Residency Programs in the United States: A 17-Year Analysis.

Introduction: International medical graduates (IMGs) continue to play an important role in the US health care system, but little is known about their trends of matching into highly competitive residencies such as orthopedic surgery. The purpose of this study was to analyze temporal trends of IMG applicants matching into US orthopedic residency programs between 2008 and 2024 and compare them with US allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) graduates.

Methods: Orthopedic residency specific data for years 2008 to 2024 was obtained from the National Resident Match Program and Electronic Residency Application Service.

Does humeral fixation technique affect long-term outcomes of total shoulder arthroplasty?

Background: For anatomic total arthroscopic repair, cementless humeral fixation has recently gained popularity. However, few studies have compared clinical, radiographic, and patient-reported outcomes between cemented and press-fit humeral fixation, and none have performed follow-up for longer than 5 years. In this study, we compared long-term postoperative outcomes in patients receiving a cemented versus press-fit humeral stem anatomic arthroscopic repair.

Addiction continues to be a major public health concern, and rates of relapse following currently-available treatments remain high. There is increasing interest in the adjunctive use of mindfulness-based interventions, such as yoga, to improve treatment outcomes. The current study was a preliminary naturalistic investigation of a novel trauma-informed yoga intervention in an inpatient treatment program for women with substance use disorder (SUD).

Isolated Intermetatarsal Ligament Release as Primary Operative Management for Morton's Neuroma: Short-term Results.

Background: Although the precise pathoetiology of Morton's neuroma remains unclear, chronic nerve entrapment from the overlying intermetatarsal ligament (IML) may play a role. Traditional operative management entails neuroma excision but risks unpredictable formation of stump neuroma.

Materials And Methods: Medical records were examined for adult patients who failed at least 3 months of conservative treatment for symptomatic and recalcitrant Morton's neuroma and who then underwent isolated IML decompression without neuroma resection.
