Background: The introduction of proteasome inhibitors (PIs) and lenalidomide as treatment for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) has led to an increased population of lenalidomide-refractory patients. Limited data are available characterizing current treatments and outcomes in this difficult-to-treat population.

Methods: Individual patient-level data were analyzed from the treatment arms of multiple daratumumab studies, including APOLLO, CASTOR, CANDOR, EQUULEUS, ALCYONE, MAIA, GRIFFIN, POLLUX, and CASSIOPEIA.

Cationic polymers have the unique ability to neutralize negative charge with practical applications in personal care products, such as shampoos, conditioners, contact lens solutions, and as flocculants in wastewater treatment processes. Cationic polymers are a diverse class of materials varying in structural composition, cationic charge density (CD), and molecular weight (MW). In this study, we investigated three classes of polyquaternium cationic polymers (PQ-6, PQ-10, PQ-16) of varying CD and MW to characterize their toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.

Article Synopsis
  • Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV) is a type of bunyavirus that causes neuroinvasive diseases in the U.S., but its mechanism of infection is not well understood.
  • Recent research identifies low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1 (Lrp1) as a key factor that enables JCV and other bunyaviruses to infect cells, particularly in the nervous system.
  • Experiments show that neurons lacking Lrp1 have reduced JCV infection rates, suggesting that targeting Lrp1 could lead to new antiviral treatments for diseases caused by bunyaviruses.

Oropouche fever is a re-emerging global viral threat caused by infection with Oropouche orthobunyavirus (OROV). While disease is generally self-limiting, historical and recent reports of neurologic involvement highlight the importance of understanding the neuropathogenesis of OROV. In this study, we characterize viral replication kinetics in neurons and microglia derived from immortalized, primary, and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cells, which are all permissive to infection.

Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) genotypes in men who have sex with other men and are living with HIV and the factors associated with anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL).

Methods: Anal swabs were collected for hrHPV genotyping from a cross-sectional group ( N = 163) of eligible men who have sex with other men and are living with HIV attending a high-resolution anoscopy clinic. Persistent hrHPV infections were studied in a longitudinal subset ( n = 37).
