Introduction: Chronic inflammatory dermatoses (CIDs) can significantly affect patients' lives. The Observatory of Chronic Inflammatory Skin Diseases (OMCCI) cohort was initiated to quantify the impact and disease evolution of four CID over 4 years' follow-up; at least 1,000 patients per CID are planned to be enrolled. The objective of this study was to present baseline characteristics of patients included in the OMCCI cohort between December 2020 and September 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare genetic disorder linked to abnormal calcification, potentially influenced by vitamin K levels and gut microbiota.
  • A study with 20 PXE patients showed different gut microbiota compositions compared to 60 controls, with notable differences in specific bacterial families.
  • Although the gut microbiota in PXE patients exhibited slight variations, no strong connection to vitamin K levels or disease severity was established, highlighting the need for more research on their interactions.

Background: In areas of low physician density, especially as regards dermatologists in France, there is an increasing interest in tele-expertise. This is particularly the case in the Sarthe department, where the number of physicians continues to decline and access to care was further limited by the COVID 19 epidemic.

Study Design: We retrospectively collected data from tele-expertise requests submitted to Le Mans General Hospital by general practitioners via a dedicated platform between May 6, 2019, and April 9, 2021.

This reactive hyperprolactinemia caused an aggravation of the eczema because of the resulting galactorrhea, by local irritation and inflammation, and was complicated by a galactocele. This benign tumour was a source of concern for the patient and required several diagnostic radiographic examinations.
