HACE1 is an ankyrin repeat (AKR) containing HECT-type E3 ubiquitin ligase that interacts with and ubiquitinates multiple substrates. While HACE1 is a well-known tumor suppressor, its structure and mode of ubiquitination are not understood. The authors present the cryo-EM structures of human HACE1 along with in vitro functional studies that provide insights into how the enzymatic activity of HACE1 is regulated.

120 children referred to a child and adolescent psychiatric service in a university clinic were studied with the aim of deriving predictors for grouped ICD10 diagnoses using the CBCL Cross-Informant-Syndromes (CISs). CIS7 (Delinquent Behaviour) and CIS8 (Aggressive Behaviour) were shown to significantly separate Disruptive Behaviour Disorders from all other disorders. As cross-validation, a separate clinical sample of 118 children from a similar service in another part of the country was used to see to what extent the CIS predictors from the first sample held up in the second sample.

Methods: Qualitative and quantitative work was conducted at the Delhi centre as a part of the WHOQOL (World Health Organization Quality of Life) project at 15 centres in developing and developed countries to construct a new quality of life instrument (WHOQOL).

One hundred and four subjects with heroin dependence, consecutive new admission to a ward were studied prospectively to assess treatment retention. All these subjects were admitted voluntarily after pre-admission counselling wherein treatment package (four week's stay), ward routine, rules and regulation were explained. Socio-demographic parameters, drug use history, motivation as understood by "readiness to change", reasons for seeking treatment were obtained.

A brief psychosocial intervention model for alcohol and drug dependence recovery has been evolved in the form of psycho-educational group therapy. The package comprises of eight sessions conducted thrice a week over a period of about three weeks following detoxification. It aims to equip the patients with information and knowledge relevant to the needs of recovery.
