Stoma formation for fecal diversion is a common procedure in patients with various complicated conditions after colorectal surgery, such as anastomotic leakage. The single-incision laparoscopic approach for stoma creation offers several advantages, including a reduction in surgical wounds and related complications as well as optimal visualization of the surgical field. This video demonstrates a single-port-assisted diverting ileostomy in a 61-year-old man with anastomotic leakage following low anterior resection for advanced rectal cancer.

This study aimed to explore the role and potential mechanisms of liver X receptor α (LXRα) in CAVD, which offers a promising approach for treating CAVD.
Methods And Results: Osteogenic stimulation was performed following which a substantial downregulation of LXRα was observed in human calcific aortic valves and in valvular interstitial cells.
Exposure to diesel exhaust particles (DEPs), which are major constituents of urban air pollution, is associated with adverse health outcomes. Previous studies have shown that DEPs enhance the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and immune responses. However, few studies have focused on genomic variants that regulate DEP-induced signaling.

Methods And Results: This study was a post hoc analysis of patients with acute ischemic stroke with maximum heart rates ≥100 bpm.
This study investigates the enhancement of thermal durability in multilayer yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) thermal barrier coatings (TBC) with porosity-controlled structures. Conventional single-layer YSZ and multilayer TBCs with dense and porous layers were fabricated by air plasma spraying and the TBC specimens were subjected to furnace cyclic testing. The single-layer TBC suffered from catastrophic delamination under cyclic thermal loading, driven by the mismatch in thermal expansion, while the multilayer TBCs exhibited a significant increase in thermal durability, by up to 50%.
