Vascular complications after a multiligament knee reconstruction: A case report highlighting the role of preoperative imaging.

Vascular injuries are serious complications of multiligament knee injuries and can result in catastrophic outcomes. These injuries can range from intimal flaps with no compromise of the distal perfusion to a complete occlusion or transection requiring emergent vascular intervention. Several diagnostic tests, including the measurement of the ankle-brachial index (ABI), conventional angiography, and computed tomography angiography (CTA), are commonly used as diagnostic tools to identify vascular injuries in the context of a multiligament knee injury.

Most experimental studies on common pool resource usage focus on situations in which actors are in symmetric positions when they use the resource. Many real-world cases do not fit this scenario because users are in asymmetric positions regarding their ability to benefit from the resource. Designing an electronic medical record alert to identify hospitalised patients with HIV: successes and challenges.

Objectives: Electronic medical record (EMR) tools can identify specific populations among hospitalised patients, allowing targeted interventions to improve care quality and safety. We created an EMR alert using readily available data elements to identify hospitalised people with HIV (PWH) to facilitate a quality improvement study intended to address two quality/safety concerns (connecting hospitalised PWH to outpatient HIV care and reducing medication errors). Here, we describe the design and implementation of the alert and analyse its accuracy of identifying PWH.

Use of Cryopreserved Human Umbilical Cord for Wound Healing of the Nose after Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is microscopically controlled surgery used to treat common skin cancers including primary and recurrent basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Unfortunately, postexcisional MMS wounds, particularly down to periosteum or perichondrium, are susceptible to potentially poor cosmetic outcomes, including wound contracture, hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation, and contour mismatch. Herein, we report a case to show how adjunctive application of human cryopreserved umbilical cord tissue (UC) may expedite wound healing with improved aesthetic outcome.
