As the COVID-19 pandemic continues around the globe, vaccines are undoubtedly central to the fight to control the spread of the virus. However, as with any therapy, these vaccines are not without side effects. Documented cardiac complications of COVID-19 vaccination include myocarditis, pericarditis, and cardiac conduction abnormalities.

We quantified the number of children transported by 9-1-1 emergency medical services (EMS) to high-readiness EDs, additional children within 30 minutes of a high-readiness ED, and the estimated effect on survival.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using data from the National EMS Information System for 5,461 EMS agencies in 28 states from 1/1/2012 through 12/31/2019, matched to the 2013 National Pediatric Readiness Project assessment of ED pediatric readiness.
Background: The European spurge hawkmoth, (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae), has been intensively studied as a model organism for insect chemical ecology, cold hardiness and evolution of species delineation. To understand species isolation mechanisms at a molecular level, this study aims at determining genetic factors underlying two adaptive ecological trait candidates, phorbol ester (TPA) detoxification and seasonal cold acclimation.
Method: A draft transcriptome of was generated using Illumina sequencing, providing the first genomic resource for the hawkmoth subfamily Macroglossinae.
This work illustrates how enthalpy and entropy changes responsible for successive phase transitions of cyanobiphenyl-based liquid crystals can be combined to give cohesive free energy densities. These new parameters are able to rationalize and quantify the demixing of the melting and clearing processes that occur in thermotropic liquid crystals. Minor structural variations at the molecular level can be understood as pressure increments that alter either the melting or clearing temperatures in a predictable way.
