The use and application of Lean Management methods to research processes-a scoping review protocol.

Introduction: Waste in medical research is a relatively well-known issue. However, only a few initiatives exist to address this issue. Lean Management methods (Lean) were developed in industrial manufacturing and later applied within healthcare improvement.

How to increase value and reduce waste in research: initial experiences of applying Lean thinking and visual management in research leadership.

Waste in research has been well documented, but initiatives to reduce it are scarce. Here, we share our initial experiences of implementing Lean thinking and visual management into hospital research units in the Region of Southern Denmark. A Transformation Guiding Team (TGT) anchored in the top management was established with participation from leaders, researchers and patient representatives.

Use of antiosteoporotic medication in the Danish ROSE population-based screening study.

Unlabelled: Use of antiosteoporotic medication in the population-based, risk-stratified osteoporosis strategy evaluation (ROSE) screening study, comparing the use of FRAX followed by DXA with usual care, was examined. Screening increased the overall use of medication. Being recommended treatment by the hospital and higher age increased the likelihood of starting medication, but, nevertheless, a large percentage opted not to start treatment.

Completeness of testing in patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma in Denmark 1997-2013: a nationwide study.

Background: The completeness of arranged during ransfection () testing in patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) was recently reported as 60%. However, the completeness on a population level is unknown. Similarly, it is unknown if the first Danish guidelines from 2002, recommending testing in all MTC patients, improved completeness in Denmark.

Survival and Long-Term Biochemical Cure in Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma in Denmark 1997-2014: A Nationwide Study.

Background: Survival of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) subgroups in relation to the general population is poorly described. Data on the factors predicting long-term biochemical cure in MTC patients are nonexistent at a population level. A nationwide retrospective cohort study of MTC in Denmark from 1997 to 2014 was conducted, aiming to detect subgroups with survival similar to that of the general population and to identify prognostic factors for disease-specific survival and long-term biochemical cure.
