Regional cerebral oxygen saturation variability and brain injury in preterm infants.

Objective: To examine whether variation of regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rScO) within three days after delivery predicts development of brain injury (intraventricular/cerebellar hemorrhage or white matter injury) in preterm infants.

Study Design: A prospective study of neonates <32 weeks gestational age with normal cranial ultrasound admitted between 2018 and 2022. All received rScO monitoring with near-infrared spectroscopy at admission up to 72 h of life.

Total Synthesis and Biological Profiling of Putative (±)-Marinoaziridine B and (±)--Methyl Marinoaziridine A.

The total synthesis of two new marine natural products, (±)-marinoaziridine B and (±)--methyl marinoaziridine A , was accomplished. The (±)-marinoaziridine was prepared in a six-step linear sequence with a 2% overall yield. The key steps in our strategy were the preparation of the chiral epoxide (±)- using the Johnson Corey Chaykovsky reaction, followed by the ring-opening reaction and the Staudinger reaction.

Novel (±)---lactam ureas: Synthesis, and biological profiling.

A diastereomeric mixture of racemic 3-phthalimido--lactam / was synthesized by the Staudinger reaction of carboxylic acid activated with 2-chloro-1-methylpyridinium iodide and imine . The amino group at the C3 position of the -lactam ring was used for further structural upgrade. --lactam ureas were prepared by the condensation reaction of the amino group of -lactam ring with various aromatic and aliphatic isocyanates.

Changes in Dickkopf-1, but Not Sclerostin, in Gingival Crevicular Fluid Are Associated with Peroral Statin Treatment in Patients with Periodontitis.

: Periodontitis is marked by the destruction of alveolar bone. Sclerostin (SOST) and dickkopf-1 (DKK-1) act as inhibitors of the Wingless-type (Wnt) signaling pathway, a key regulator of bone metabolism. Recent studies have suggested that statins play a role in bone resorption and formation by influencing Wnt signaling.
