Airway multiciliated cells (MCs) maintain respiratory health by clearing mucus and trapped particles through the beating of motile cilia. While it is known that ciliary lengths decrease along the proximal-distal (P-D) axis of the tracheobronchial tree, how this is regulated is unclear. Here, we demonstrate that canonical Notch signaling in MCs plays a critical role in stabilizing ciliary length.

Our study aimed to determine the accumulation of genetic mutations and associated lung pathologies in male and female hamsters infected with the ancestral Wuhan strain of SARS-CoV-2. The present study showed no significant difference in the viral load between male and female hamsters and peak infection was found to be on day four post infection in both sexes of the animals.

New-born infants are expected to receive short-term protection from passively transferred maternal antibodies from their mothers who are immunized with first-generation COVID-19 vaccines. Passively transferred antibodies are expected to wane within first 6 months of infant's life, leaving them vulnerable to COVID-19.

A total of 373 cattle serum samples from 45 farms in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand states were collected from animals with a history of reproductive disorders like abortion, repeat breeding, anoestrus and endometritis, and also from apparently healthy animals. These samples were screened for Leptospira serogroup-specific antibodies by microscopic agglutination test (MAT) using a panel of 18 live reference serovar antigens.
