Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on improving nutritional support for high-risk colorectal cancer patients through a teleprehabilitation program, aiming to boost their health before surgery by addressing modifiable risk factors like malnutrition.
  • A secondary analysis of a pilot study involving eleven patients showed that while 82% met their energy requirements, only 55% achieved adequate protein intake, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • The findings indicate that teleprehabilitation is a feasible approach, with some patients successfully adhering to nutritional guidelines; however, challenges remain regarding food quantity and protein consumption.

Introduction: Multiple screening methods for malnutrition are available, but a systematic review of evidence in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) is lacking. The aim of this study is to systematically investigate which outcome variables of nutritional screening methods are associated with treatment tolerance in patients with CRC.

Material And Methods: A systematic review was performed with respect to outcome variables of nutritional screening methods and their association with systemic treatment tolerance in patients with CRC.

Background: Patients with stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are often nutritionally depleted and therefore at high-risk for treatment complications. Identifying these patients before the start of treatment is important to initiate preventive interventions for better treatment outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate which outcome variables of pretreatment nutritional assessments are associated with posttreatment complications in patients with stage I-III NSCLC, as well as to identify cut-off values for clinical risk stratification.

Objectives: Feasible screening methods are important to identify older patients who might benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between the outcomes of screening for frailty with the Geriatric-8 questionnaire (G8) and the 4-meter gait speed test (4MGST) and subsequent delivery of adjuvant chemotherapy and treatment tolerance in older patients with colon cancer.

Material And Methods: This retrospective multicentre study included all patients aged ≥70 with primary colon carcinoma who underwent elective surgery between May 2016 and December 2018 and for whom adjuvant chemotherapy was indicated.
