This report describes two brothers, both deceased in infancy, with severe depletion of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in muscle tissue. Both had feeding difficulties, failure to thrive, severe muscular hypotonia and lactic acidosis. One of the boys developed a renal proximal tubulopathy.
