A 52-Year-Old Woman With Dysarthria, Ataxia, Xanthelasmas, and Miliary Pulmonary Nodules.

A 52-year-old woman with no significant medical history was referred to our hospital for expedited workup of progressive dysarthria and ataxia over the past year. Prior CT angiography of the head and neck showed no relevant neurologic findings but did reveal miliary lesions in the lung apices, which was later confirmed via dedicated CT chest scan (Fig 1). Review of systems was negative for any respiratory, constitutional, or rheumatologic symptoms, except for new xanthelasma-like lesions over her forehead.

Native versus deglycosylated IgM in anti-MAG neuropathy: Correlation with clinical status - Study of 10 cases.

Background/purpose: In anti-myelin associated glycoprotein (anti-MAG) neuropathies, there is evidence that anti-MAG antibodies are pathogenic but numerous studies report the absence or a weak correlation between the titers of these antibodies and disease course. In this study we assessed the relationships between MAG and glycosylated moieties located on Fc fragment of IgM anti-MAG.

Material And Methods: IgM were extracted from the serum of 8 patients with anti-MAG neuropathy and in 2 patients with anti-MAG antibodies without anti-MAG neuropathy.

Attitudes of Pregnant Women and Healthcare Professionals Toward Clinical Trials and Routine Implementation of Antenatal Vaccination Against Respiratory Syncytial Virus: A Multicenter Questionnaire Study.

Introduction: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of infant hospitalization and mortality. With multiple vaccines in development, we aimed to determine: (1) the awareness of RSV among pregnant women and healthcare professionals (HCPs), and (2) attitudes toward clinical trials and routine implementation of antenatal RSV vaccination.

Methods: Separate questionnaires for pregnant women and HCPs were distributed within 4 hospitals in South England (July 2017-January 2018).

Determinants of Influenza and Pertussis Vaccination Uptake in Pregnancy: A Multicenter Questionnaire Study of Pregnant Women and Healthcare Professionals.

Introduction: Uptake rates of antenatal vaccination remain suboptimal. Our aims were to determine (1) the acceptability of routine vaccination among pregnant women, (2) the confidence of maternity healthcare professionals (HCPs) discussing vaccination and (3) HCP opinion regarding the optimum healthcare site for vaccine administration.

Methods: Separate questionnaires for pregnant women and HCPs were distributed within 4 national health service (NHS) trusts in South England (July 2017 to January 2018).

Multifocal motor neuropathy.

Purpose Of Review: Multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) has specific clinical and electrophysiologic features but can be difficult to diagnose if cases are not typical. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) remains the core initial and long-term treatment. In this review, recent advances in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of MMN are discussed.
