Phase 1 Study of Quercetin, a Natural Antioxidant in Children and Young Adults with Fanconi Anemia (FA).

Fanconi anemia (FA) is a rare inherited disorder characterized by progressive bone marrow failure (BMF) and a predisposition to malignancy. Systemic reactive-oxygen species (ROS) and increased sensitivity of FA hematopoietic progenitors to ROS play a key role in the pathogenesis of BMF. Treatment with antioxidants improve hematopoietic function in Fancc-/- mice.

Oxidative Stress Early After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant.

Background: HSCT conditioning regimens cause massive lysis of hematopoietic cells with release of toxic intracellular molecules into the circulation.

Objectives: To describe the response to oxidative stress early after hemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and assess the association of early oxidative stress with later transplant outcomes.

Study Design: Key components of in the body's physiological response to oxidative stress were studied in a cohort of 122 consecutive pediatric allogeneic HSCT recipients.

An exploratory qualitative study of inter-agency health and social service partnerships focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

Background: The siloed nature of the health and social service system threatens access for clients engaging numerous organisations. Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face adverse circumstances which contribute to multiple health and social needs. Effective relationships between health and social services are integral to coordinated service provision to meet the diverse needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

Evaluating the Scope of Services and Monetary Impact of Charity Medical Clinics in North Texas.

Introduction/objectives: The cost of medical services is a major barrier to healthcare accessibility for underserved populations in the United States. Community charity medical clinics help address this disparity by providing free or reduced-cost care for the medically underinsured; however, their economic and public health contributions are unknown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the scope of services and monetary impact of 4 community charity medical clinics in North Texas, with one of the largest medically underinsured populations in the United States.

Healing the Past by Nurturing the Future: trauma-aware, healing-informed care to improve support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families - implementation and evaluation study protocol.

Introduction: Complex trauma can have serious impacts on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. The perinatal period represents a 'critical window' for recovery and transforming cycles of trauma into cycles of healing. The Healing the Past by Nurturing the Future (HPNF) project aims to implement and evaluate a programme of strategies to improve support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander families experiencing complex trauma.
