Levetiracetam (LEV) is an anti-epileptic drug used extra-label in dogs. Commercially available extended-release formulations (LEV-ER), administered twice daily, cannot be crushed or split, limiting their use in small dogs. A compounded LEV-ER formulation (PO-COMP) can purportedly be partitioned without loss of extended-release properties.

NXP900 is a selective and potent SRC family kinase (SFK) inhibitor, currently being dosed in a phase 1 clinical trial, that locks SRC in the "closed" conformation, thereby inhibiting both kinase-dependent catalytic activity and kinase-independent functions. In contrast, several multi-targeted kinase inhibitors that inhibit SRC, including dasatinib and bosutinib, bind their target in the active "open" conformation, allowing SRC and other SFKs to act as a scaffold to promote tumorigenesis through non-catalytic functions. NXP900 exhibits a unique target selectivity profile with sub-nanomolar activity against SFK members over other kinases.

Soil and groundwater were investigated for the genes encoding soluble and particulate methane monooxygenase/ammonia monooxygenase (sMMO, pMMO/AMO), toluene 4-monooxygenase (T4MO), propane monooxygenase (PMO) and phenol hydroxylase (PH). The objectives were (1) to determine which subunits were present, (2) to examine the diversity of the phylotypes associated with the biomarkers and (3) to identify which metagenome associated genomes (MAGs) contained these subunits. All T4MO and PH subunits were annotated in the groundwater metagenomes, while few were annotated in the soil metagenomes.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in an integral part of the diagnostic workup in canines with idiopathic epilepsy (IE). While highly sensitive and specific in identifying structural lesions, conventional MRI is unable to detect changes at the microscopic level. Utilizing more advanced neuroimaging techniques may provide further information on changes at the neuronal level in the brain of canines with IE, thus providing crucial information on the pathogenesis of canine epilepsy.
