Individuals with chronic liver or kidney disease are at increased risk of severe COVID-19. Molnupiravir is an orally administered antiviral authorized for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults at risk of progression to severe disease. Two nonrandomized, open-label, single-dose, multicenter, phase 1 trials were conducted to investigate the effects of hepatic and renal impairment on the tolerability and pharmacokinetics of molnupiravir (800 mg) and its metabolite β-D-N4-hydroxycytidine (NHC; NCT05386589/NCT05386758).

Undergraduate medical students who participate in community outreach programs gain a multitude of benefits that impact not only their professional development but also the well-being of the communities they serve. At the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), students have the opportunity to volunteer in the "Bodies and Bites" program at the West End Center for Youth, an after-school educational center that serves K-12 children in Roanoke, Virginia. The purpose of Bodies and Bites is to teach elementary school children in 2nd to 5th grade how their bodies work and how to keep them healthy through good nutrition and exercise.

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of different corn milling methods for high-moisture and dry corn on finishing cattle performance, carcass traits, and nutrient digestion. In experiment 1, steers (N = 600 [60 pens]; initial body weight [BW] = 402 ± 17 kg) were fed for 134 d to evaluate the effect of milling method and corn type on performance and carcass characteristics. Treatments were evaluated as a 2 × 3 factorial design with factors being milling method (Automatic Ag roller mill [ROLL] or hammer mill [HAMMER]) and corn type (high-moisture [HMC], dry [DC], or 50:50 blend of HMC and DC [BLEND]).
