Neoplastic meningitis, also known as leptomeningeal metastases, is a rare clinical entity seen in less than 1%-2% of primary nervous system tumors. Diagnosis of leptomeningeal metastases is difficult and is achieved by cytologic evidence of malignant cells in cerebrospinal fluid, or demonstration of radiologic abnormality. 18F-FDG PET/CT can detect leptomeningeal metastases before anatomical changes.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between PET and CT parameters and sarcopenia, adipose tissue, and tumor metabolism in esophageal carcinoma (EC) and its impact on survival in EC.

Method: Our study included 122 EC patients who underwent PET/CT for staging. Muscle and adipose tissue characteristics were evaluated, including lumbar (L3) and cervical (C3) muscle areas, psoas major (PM) and sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM) parameters, and PET parameters for visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT).

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of an acute decrease in serum estrogen concentration on endothelial function in women with surgically induced menopause through the use of color Doppler ultrasonography. There were 40 women scheduled to undergo total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy who participated in the study; 15 women not undergoing surgery also participated as a control group. Color Doppler ultrasonographic examinations of each surgical patient were obtained 3 days prior to and 7 days after surgery.
