Prophylactic Fixed-Rate Phenylephrine Versus Norepinephrine Infusion in the Prevention of Post-spinal Anesthesia Hypotension During Cesarean Delivery.

Background Maternal hypotension following spinal anesthesia can be actively countered by the use of vasopressors. Prophylactic infusion of vasopressors with a rescue bolus dosing was observed to be more effective for hemodynamic stability when compared to administering a bolus dose alone. Although phenylephrine is the recommended drug to treat spinal hypotension, many recent studies have focussed on the role of norepinephrine infusions during cesarean section.

Strongyloides hyperinfection in a patient with solid malignant tumor a case report.

Strongyloides stercoralis is unique among the nematodes, in which it completes its life cycle inside a single human host by causing autoinfection in the host, and it causes hyperinfection leading to persistent and fatal disseminated infections in immunocompromised hosts. The present case report is about strongyloidiasis fatal hyperinfection in a patient with malignant tumor of the tongue on radiotherapy treatment, to highlight the need for clinical suspicion of strongyloidiasis in an immunocompromised host. As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the mortality in strongyloides hyperinfection syndrome is alarmingly high, a case fatality rate that is almost 90%.

Mass cultivation of UV-B adapted Arthrospira platensis RRGK under open raceway pond for the production of Poly-β-hydroxy butyrate.

Six different strains of cyanobacteria were isolated from the freshwater lake, Arakkonam, India. Staining of cells with Nile Red showed the presence of large quantities of PHB granules in the cell cytoplasm of Arthrospira. Molecular identification of the strain was carried out using 16S rRNA analysis and their systematic position was ascertained as Arthrospira platensis RRGK.

Prediction of autistic disorder using neuro fuzzy system by applying ANN technique.

The major challenge in medical field is to diagnose disorder rather than a disease. In this paper, a neuro fuzzy based model is designed for identification or diagnosis of autism. The problematic areas are gathered from every individual and the related linguistic inputs are converted into fuzzy input values which are in turn given as input to feed forward multilayer neural network.

Vancomycin sensitivity and KOH string test as an alternative to gram staining of bacteria.

Two hundred and eighteen bacterial isolates obtained from various clinical samples were subjected to Gram stain by conventional method. For all the isolates potassium hydroxide (KOH) string test and sensitivity to vancomycin were done. Gram positive bacteria showed 100% sensitivity to vancomycin as also 100% negativity for string test.
