Purpose: To evaluate the Superb Microvascular Imaging (SMI) vascular patterns and vascularity index (VI) values of malignant focal liver lesions (FLLs), assess their role in differential diagnosis, and examine interobserver agreement.

Materials And Methods: A total of 107 patients (52 males, 55 females; mean age 62 ± 12.8 years, range 25-87) referred to the interventional radiology clinic for FLL biopsy between April 2022 and April 2023 were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to determine if patients who underwent percutaneous liver mass biopsy (PLMB) could be safely discharged after a two-hour monitoring period.
  • It involved 375 patients and found that minor complications occurred in 18.93% and major complications in 2.13%, mostly within the first two hours.
  • The conclusion indicated that the two-hour monitoring is sufficient for identifying most complications, suggesting that longer monitoring does not significantly enhance patient care.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study compares two methods for inserting percutaneous antegrade double-J ureteral stents: a first-hand approach and a nephrostomy route, evaluating their effectiveness, safety, and patient outcomes.
  • - Analysis of patient records from 2016 to 2023 revealed both methods had similar success rates, but the nephrostomy method had longer fluoroscopy exposure and a higher complication risk, particularly in cases of urinary malignancies.
  • - The first-hand approach is recommended as the preferred method in most cases due to its benefits of less radiation exposure, lower complications, and being a single-stage procedure, unless urgent drainage is required.

Purpose: Baastrup's disease is characterized by abnormal contact between adjacent spinous processes. Our study is the first to systematically incorporate the STIR sequence, recognized for its heightened sensitivity to fluid and edema, into the MRI protocol for diagnosing Baastrup's disease in symptomatic individuals. The objective is to determine its prevalence and association with lumbar spinal degenerative changes.

Introduction: Previous research has identified low socioeconomic status (SES) as a risk factor for long-term sickness absence (LTSA) and disability pension (DP) following trauma. However, most studies lack information on medical diagnoses, limiting our understanding of the underlying factors. To address this gap, we retrieved information about diagnostic causes for receipt of welfare benefits to explore the role of SES in the transition from post-injury LTSA to permanent DP among the working population in Norway.
