Presentation and multidisciplinary management of a unique case of lower limb dysmelia resulting from amniotic band syndrome.

A neonate was born with a unique congenital lower limb dysmelia due to an abnormal presentation of amniotic band syndrome. An anomalous soft tissue tether from the plantar surface of the right foot to the right buttock caused extreme knee flexion, tibial rotation and malformation of the developing foot. This complex malformation required a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to decide between reconstruction and amputation.

Care Setting Transitions for People With Dementia: Qualitative Perspectives of Current and Former Care Partners.

Care partners (CP) of people with dementia (PWD) report that decisions about care setting are aided by the support of healthcare providers. However, providers are often underprepared to offer adequate counseling. This qualitative study aimed to identify what support from providers will assist CPs in making decisions related to care setting throughout the dementia journey.

Providing Hearing Assistance to Veterans in the Emergency Department: A Qualitative Study.

Introduction: Effective communication is essential to good health care, and hearing loss disrupts patient-provider communication. For the more than 2 million veterans with severe hearing loss, communication is particularly challenging in noisy health care environments such as emergency departments. The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe patient and provider perspectives of feasibility and potential benefit of providing a hearing assistance device, a personal amplifier, during visits to an emergency department in an urban setting affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Determining the Prognosis of Bell's Palsy Based on Severity at Presentation and Electroneuronography.

Objective: To examine the demographics of Bell's palsy and determine how House-Brackmann (HB) grade at nadir and electroneuronography (ENoG) results correlate with HB grade after recovery and development of synkinesis.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Setting: Tertiary care military medical center.
