Research has shown that treatment for diabetes and eye care was disrupted during the pandemic - with disparities between urban and rural populations being unknown. Guidelines specify that clinicians should support patients living with obesity by referring to weight management programmes (WMPs), but clinicians do so infrequently. To provide additional support to patients living with obesity and weight-related conditions, the UK government instated the National Enhanced Service (NES) for weight management in England, including a reimbursement to general practices for referring eligible patients to WMPs. To assess the impact of the NES on conversations regarding weight and relevant behavioural risk factors in primary care consultations we recruited 11 medical practices in England where the NES was operating and six comparator practices from Scotland and Wales where the NES was not implemented.

A man in his 80s with long-standing left-sided throat discomfort presented with hypophonia and odynophagia. A flexible nasoendoscopy revealed a supraglottic mass in the left arytenoid. An urgent microlaryngoscopy and biopsy demonstrated a supraglottic laryngeal tumour consistent with atypical carcinoid on histopathological examination.

This research assessed the effects of pre-heating on the physical-mechanical-chemical properties of different resin composites. For this, resin composites were evaluated in 6 levels: Admira/ADM, Vitra/VIT, Filtek Supreme/FS, Filtek Supreme Flowable/FSF, Filtek One/FO, and Filtek Bulk Fill Flowable/FBF; temperature was evaluated in 4 levels using a composite heater: room temperature/22 ºC, 37 ºC, 54 ºC, and 68 ºC. Response variables were: degree of conversion/DC, flexural strength/FS and color stability/ΔE (immediately after light curing/LC, after 7 days of dark-dry-storage, and after 24 h and 3 days of artificial aging in water at 60 ºC).

Translesion synthesis (TLS) is a cellular mechanism through which actively replicating cells recruit specialized, low-fidelity DNA polymerases to damaged DNA to allow for replication past these lesions. REV1 is one of these TLS DNA polymerases that functions primarily as a scaffolding protein to organize the TLS heteroprotein complex and ensure replication occurs in the presence of DNA lesions. The C-Terminal domain of REV1 (REV1-CT) forms many protein-protein interactions (PPIs) with other TLS polymerases, making it essential for TLS function and a promising drug target for anti-cancer drug development.
