Neighborhood Factors related to Cancer Screening in Texas: a spatioecological study.

Introduction: To examine the associations of neighborhood socioeconomic status (nSES), ethnic enclaves, residential Black segregation with screening for breast, cervical and colorectal (CRC) cancers across the state of Texas (TX).

Methods: Using an ecologic study design, spatial clustering of low breast, cervical and CRC screening rates were identified across TX census tracts using local Moran's I statistics. Binomial spatial probit regression was used to estimate the associations between nSES, Hispanic/Latino and Asian American (AA) ethnic enclave neighborhoods and residential Black segregation with geospatial clusters of low screening, adjusting for behavioral characteristics.

Comparison of Graphites Intercalated with Fluorine as Slow Neutron Reflectors.

The use of neutron reflectors is an effective method for improving the quality of neutron sources and neutron delivery systems. In this work, we further develop the method based on the Bragg scattering of neutrons in crystals with large interplanar distances. We compare samples of differently prepared fluorine intercalated graphites by measuring the total cross section for the interaction of neutrons with the samples, depending on the neutron wavelength.

"I have established this support network": How Chosen Kin Support Women Medical Students During their First Two Years in Medical School.

Women medical students experience unique stressors and challenges during medical school related to inherent structural androcentric norms. Through a longitudinal qualitative study of 17 women medical students in their first two years of medical school, we sought to investigate how they navigated their medical school experience. We used a critical lens and narrative inquiry to understand their experiences within the powerful and marginalizing culture of medical school.

Implementation of an Occupational Sun Safety Intervention: Comparison of Two Scalability Strategies.

Objective: Two methods for scaling up an evidence-based occupational sun protection program were compared.

Methods: Regional districts (n = 138) in 21 state Departments of Transportation throughout the United States were randomized to receive the Go Sun Smart at Work program via in-person or digital scalability methods in 2019-2022 in 1:2 ratio. Managers completed pretest and posttest surveys and employees completed posttest surveys.
