Radon protection in apartments using a ventilation system wireless-controlled by radon activity concentration.

The new German Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG) of 31 December 2018 established a reference value of 300 Bq mfor the annual average radon activity concentration in buildings with recreation and living rooms, as well as in workplaces. It is expected that the reference value will be exceeded in a vast number of buildings throughout Germany and that radon protection measures will become indispensable. A simple and inexpensive radon protection measure for existing buildings is ventilation.

Letting Go: A Writing Exercise and a Discussion.

There is much in the literature about the benefits of reflective writing for medical practitioners. This article outlines instructions for a novel reflective writing exercise that anyone can do, gives examples for how the exercise has been helpful for the author, and then relates an interdisciplinary discussion that resulted from the use of this exercise when paired with a prompt.

Dissolution/permeation: The importance of the experimental setup for the prediction of formulation effects on fenofibrate performance.

The evaluation of formulation strategies in early drug development requires in vitro methods that correctly predict oral drug absorption. The present study aimed to define key parameters for the predictability of dissolution/permeation experiments. Dissolution/permeation experiments were performed in various setups.

Optimization of the Ussing chamber setup with excised rat intestinal segments for dissolution/permeation experiments of poorly soluble drugs.

Context: Prediction of the in vivo absorption of poorly soluble drugs may require simultaneous dissolution/permeation experiments. In vivo predictive media have been modified for permeation experiments with Caco-2 cells, but not for excised rat intestinal segments.

Objective: The present study aimed at improving the setup of dissolution/permeation experiments with excised rat intestinal segments by assessing suitable donor and receiver media.
