- A study reviewed how chiropractic state boards in the U.S. recognize residencies and fellowships as continuing education (CE) for license renewal.
- Only four states accept these programs for CE credit, while 41 states make no mention of them, and six states have unclear policies.
- The findings suggest that as postdoctoral programs for chiropractors increase, state boards may need to reevaluate and clarify their CE policies regarding these training opportunities.
Background: In recent studies, receipt of chiropractic care has been associated with lower odds of receiving prescription opioids and, among those already prescribed, reduced doses of opioids among patients with non-cancer spine pain. These findings suggest that access to chiropractic services may reduce reliance on opioids for musculoskeletal pain.
Objective: To assess the impact of chiropractic care on initiation, or continued use, of prescription opioids among patients with non-cancer spine pain.
Graduate students are faced with many stressors, including school, work, and home roles. They may not have the self-care skills and support to manage the increased stress from school. Self-care goal setting check-ins were implemented in a graduate course to support students' stress management.
