Rethinking the pan scan in stable trauma: A comparison of whole-body computed tomography and selective imaging in clinically stable blunt force trauma.

Objective: To compare the frequency of clinically significant missed injuries in clinically stable trauma patients undergoing initial whole-body computed tomography (WBCT) versus selective imaging. Secondary objectives include comparisons of radiation exposure, incidental findings, ED length of stay (LOS), hospital LOS and mortality.

Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of trauma activations at a tertiary trauma centre in patients with normal vital signs from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022.

Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the main functional index of kidney health and disease. Currently, no methods are available to directly measure tubular mass and function. Here, we report a serendipitous finding that the in vitro cell viability dye resazurin can be used in mice as an exogenous sensor of tubular function.

A systematic review of evidence that environmental contaminant exposure impedes weight loss and glycemic control during calorie-restricted diets in humans.

Calorie-restricted diets cause weight loss and can drive type 2 diabetes remission. However, many patients struggle to achieve clinically relevant weight loss, and the reasons are not well understood. Chemical exposure is associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes development, and some evidence from preclinical experiments suggests it can limit the clinical benefits of calorie restriction.

Exploring healthcare facilities' blenderized tube feeding policy trends: A survey of registered dietitian nutritionists.

Background: Recent surveys suggest that registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) are increasingly supportive of blenderized tube feeding (BTF). However, its actual use in clinical practice continues to lag. This disconnect may be explained by a lack of comprehensive BTF policies.

Use of tenofovir-based PrEP among pregnant women in South Africa.

Objective: We developed Healthy Families-PrEP to support perinatal women to use HIV prevention strategies.

Design: Single arm study to evaluate PrEP use among pregnant women exposed to the intervention.

Methods: We offered safer conception counselling including TDF/FTC as PrEP with adherence support (Healthy Families-PrEP) for women planning for pregnancy in South Africa with a partner with HIV or unknown serostatus.
