Objective: Technology addiction is an increasingly important public health problem all over the world that negatively affects people's mental and physical health. In this study, we examined technology addiction and social connectedness levels of psychiatric patients who admitted to clinics in different geographical regions of Turkey.
Methods: A total of 642 people with a diagnosis of psychiatric illness who applied to psychiatry clinics in İstanbul, Elaziğ, Malatya, Yozgat, Adıyaman, and Bingöl provinces were included.
Objective: It is known that inflammation plays a role in the etiopathogenesis of schizophrenia. In this study, we examined high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) and Beclin 1 levels and their relationship with clinical variables in patients with schizophrenia.
Method: Forty-three patients with schizophrenia and 43 healthy controls were included in this study.
The etiology of addiction has not yet been fully elucidated. The ratio between the length of the second and fourth fingers (2D:4D ratio) has been linked with prenatal androgen concentrations, but also with addictive behvaiors. Objective: This study was aimed to determine whether preprocedural ultrasonography (USG) affects the technical performance of spinal anesthesia in elderly patients with difficulty in palpating landmarks, scoliosis, or previous spine surgery.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study was conducted in 156 elderly patients scheduled for elective orthopedic lower extremity surgery. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups to receive spinal anesthesia by the preprocedural USG examination (group U) or conventional landmark palpation technique (group P).
Purpose: To investigate whether mandatory use of iodized salt in Turkey, since 1999 has sufficient effects on pregnant women and their newborns' urinary iodine concentrations (UIC), maternal and newborns' thyroid function tests and breast milk iodine concentrations (BMIC).
Methods: This cross-sectional analytical-type study was conducted in an obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Konya, Turkey. One hundred and seven pregnant women and their 107 full-term newborns were included into the study.
Objectives: This research aimed to evaluate pre-operatively and post-operatively the olfactory function of patients who had undergone surgery in our clinic for chronic nasal blockage via the Connecticut Chemosensory Clinical Research Center (CCCRC) smell test.
Method: Thirty-seven patients (24 females, 13 males) were enrolled in this study. All had undergone surgery in our clinic due to chronic nasal blockage (not for smell dysfunction), having been diagnosed with septal deviation in conjunction with concha bullosa and/or inferior turbinate hypertrophy.
