Article Synopsis
  • Pigeonpea productivity suffers due to suboptimal plant features in Indian cultivars, necessitating a shift towards ideal plant types through advanced genomic methods.* -
  • This study evaluated 133 pigeonpea germplasms for traits like flowering initiation, days to maturity, and plant height, revealing significant genetic diversity and correlations between early growth traits.* -
  • The research identified effective SSR markers linked to important traits, with ASSR8 and ASSR390 significantly explaining variances in earliness and branch numbers, while other markers deemed ineffective.*

Pigeonpea production is severely constrained by wilt disease caused by Fusarium udum. In the current study, we discover the putative genomic regions that control resistance response to variant 2 of fusarium wilt using association mapping approach. The association panel comprised of 89 diverse pigeonpea genotypes including seven varieties, three landraces and 79 germplasm lines.
