Background: Landscaping studies related to public health education in India do not exclusively focus on the most common Masters of Public Health (MPH) program. The field of public health faces challenges due to the absence of a professional council, resulting in fragmented documentation of these programs. This study was undertaken to map all MPH programs offered across various institutes in India in terms of their geographic distribution, accreditation status, and administration patterns.

Article Synopsis
  • The mitochondrial electron transport chain (mtETC) in Plasmodium falciparum is a crucial target for drug development, and understanding its assembly factors, particularly Pfsurf1, is essential.
  • Bioinformatics techniques, including sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis, confirmed that Pfsurf1 shares significant similarities with the SURF1 family, and it can function similarly to human and yeast counterparts.
  • Yeast complementation studies demonstrated that Pfsurf1 can partially restore function in a yeast mutant lacking the Shy1 protein, suggesting that it is a functional ortholog of the SURF1 proteins in other species.

Article Synopsis
  • Prohibitins (PHBs) are important proteins in mitochondria, classified into two types: PHB1 and PHB2, which work together in regulating mitochondrial structure and function.
  • They interact to form heterodimers in the mitochondrial inner membrane.
  • Research indicates that Plasmodium falciparum also has these proteins (Pf PHB1 and Pf PHB2), which might interact in a similar way, suggesting a potential role in maintaining mitochondrial function in this organism.

Aim: To comparatively evaluate the efficacy of disinfecting ability of garlic oil, neem oil, clove oil, and tulsi oil with autoclaving on endodontic K files tested against

Materials And Methods: Fifty endodontic K files were exposed to the test micro-organism and checked for its disinfecting ability using three different methods.

Result: Garlic oil, clove oil, tulsi oil and autoclave showed considerable effectiveness against except neem oil.

Conclusion: Garlic oil, clove oil and tulsi oil are an effective disinfectant and can be used as an alternative to autoclaving against the test micro-organism.

Purpose: PowerPoint (PPT™) presentation has become an integral part of day-to-day teaching in medicine. Most often, PPT™ is used in its default mode which in fact, is known to cause boredom and ineffective learning. Research has shown improved short-term memory by applying multimedia principles for designing and delivering lectures.

. A Nugent score > 7 has been defined as the gold standard for the diagnosis for bacterial vaginosis (BV), though it is resource intensive and impractical as point of care testing. We sought to determine if colorimetric assessment of vaginal pH can accurately predict the occurrence of BV.

Objective: Due to the rampant use of antibiotics bacteria are acquiring resistance to penicillin group of drugs, which results in prescription failure in clinical practice. Beta-lactamase producing organisms are not only more virulent they also cause surrounding bacteria to become resistant. Hence, this study was undertaken to know the prevalence of extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing anaerobic bacteria in chronic periodontitis.
