Introduction: Involvement of the salivary glands in tuberculosis is rare, even in countries where tuberculosis is endemic. It can occur by systemic dissemination from a distant focus or, less commonly, as primary involvement. This article focuses on its myriad clinical presentations that pose a diagnostic challenge to the clinician.

Nodal metastases is the most important prognostic marker for oral cavity cancers. Nodal dissection at level IIb risks damage to the spinal accessory nerve. We aim to study positivity of level IIb lymph nodes in oral cancers.

The changing pattern of the clinical involvement of this disease poses a diagnostic challenge. The authors report four cases of laryngeal tuberculosis encountered in a short span of one month.

Materials And Methods: This was a hospital-based study. This study analyzed prospectively patients who presented to the otolaryngology outpatient department with complaints of throat pain, globus, neck pain, facial pain, odynophagia, throat pain associated with earache, and neuralgic pain, and were diagnosed with stylalgia and managed with styloidectomy or subjected to medical treatment.
Objectives: Voice prosthesis is the standard of care for postlaryngectomy voice rehabilitation. We aimed to assess functional outcomes of Provox voice prosthesis, to study the impact of several clinical factors (timing of Provox insertion, type of pharyngeal closure, requirement of reconstruction, performance of myotomy, and radiotherapy) on the functional outcomes, and to record the complications associated with Provox voice prosthesis.
Study Design: Prospective nonrandomized cross-sectional observational study.
Objectives: In this study, we studied varied clinical presentations and complications of a foreign body in the airway and complications of bronchoscopy, if carried out.
Methods: A prospective observational clinical study in a tertiary care centre from June 2010 to May 2012 included 46 paediatric patients aged less than 12 years, with suspected foreign body aspiration, all of whom underwent rigid bronchoscopy under general anaesthesia. All the patients were subjected to history taking, clinical examination, and investigations (pre- and post-op chest X-ray and CT virtual bronchoscopy, if required).
The current study was undertaken with a view to identify differential biomarkers in chewing-tobacco-associated oral cancer tissues in patients of Indian ethnicity. The gene expression profile was analyzed in oral cancer tissues as compared to clinically normal oral buccal mucosa. We examined 30 oral cancer tissues and 27 normal oral tissues with 16 paired samples from contralateral site of the patient and 14 unpaired samples from different oral cancer patients, for whole genome expression using high-throughput IlluminaSentrix Human Ref-8 v2 Expression BeadChip array.

Only 25% of schwannomas occur in the head and neck region, most of them arising in relation to the peripheral nerves and cervical sympathetic chain.

To study the impact of Positron emission tomography (PET) and its incremental value in diagnosing an unknown primary tumour with secondaries in the head and neck; recurrent head and neck cancers (confirmation of suspected recurrences and re-staging); and staging of head and neck tumours. This was a prospective observational study where 60 patients of head and neck tumours under the clinical settings as described above were evaluated. Thorough clinical examination and necessary radiological and histopathological investigations were done.

Ameloblastomas are rare, slowly growing and locally invasive tumours with high recurrence rate, if not treated they can grow to enormous size; we report five such cases in our article and discuss their surgical management. We report five cases of giant ameloblastoma presented in our institute between 2007 and 2010, we treated them surgically with wide margin of resection. It is widely reported that recurrence of ameloblastoma in many cases reflects the inadequacy or failure of the primary surgical procedure.

While the majority arises from the parotid gland, only a small percentage arises from the minor salivary glands. The cheek, however, is a rarely affected site with respect to pleomorphic adenomas of the minor salivary glands.

The mainstay of treatment for cholesteatoma is surgery and the surgical treatment of choice is modified radical mastoidectomy. The open mastoidectomy technique has been the mainstay of management of chronic ear disease; however this type of surgery is not without its problem.

We analyzed 55 oral cancer patients and 92 healthy controls for single nucleotide polymorphisms, using high throughput microarray Illumina Infinium II Assay platform and Human CNV370k-bead chip containing 370,000 single nucleotide polymorphisms. The PLINK software platform defined 298 SNPs with minor allele frequency of several genes significantly increased in oral cancer patients as compared to the controls (p<0.

Such injuries are dangerous because of the high risk of injury to the vital structures in the neck and hence demand an immediate surgical exploration. We present a case of a penetrating injury of the neck caused by the broken metallic fragment of a saw.

One of the most common nasal pathologies to present to an otolaryngologist is polyposis. Two well-recognized forms occur, the common antrochoanal polyp and the rare sphenochoanal polyp. Differentiation between the two is necessary for proper management by endoscopic sinus surgery.
