Progress made in digitalizing antimicrobial resistance surveillance in a One Health approach in Kenya.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major threat to global public health, affecting human and animal health, agriculture, food safety, and the environment. The control of AMR is often challenging, particularly when data are scanty or siloed in individual sectors. To develop evidence-based control policies for AMR, an electronic information system that integrates AMR data from various sectors, in a One Health approach, is critical.

Beyond monitoring functionality to results evaluation of eHealth interventions: Development and validation of an eHealth evaluation framework.

Evidencing eHealth interventions, benefits generates data as a basis for assessing whether observed changes in behavior, processes or healthcare outcomes can be attributed to the eHealth interventions. Generating such evidence requires the use of frameworks or some other type of organizing schemes to help in guiding the process and making sense of eHealth systems and the findings. The frameworks available in literature do not clearly guide on how to monitor eHealth implementation and evaluate eHealth implementation results.

Understanding Patterns of Social Support and Their Relationship to an ART Adherence Intervention Among Adults in Rural Southwestern Uganda.

SMS is a widely used technology globally and may also improve ART adherence, yet SMS notifications to social supporters following real-time detection of missed doses showed no clear benefit in a recent pilot trial. We examine the demographic and social-cultural dynamics that may explain this finding. In the trial, 63 HIV-positive individuals initiating ART received a real-time adherence monitor and were randomized to two types of SMS reminder interventions versus a control (no SMS).
