Background/aims: Atypical fibroxanthoma is an uncommon tumor that usually occurs in the skin of the head and neck of the elderly with significant sun exposure. We describe a unique case featuring a rare ocular surface conjunctival tumor (atypical fibroxanthoma) and provide insight on its characteristic clinical features, surgical management, and histology.

Methods: A 71-year-old male fisherman with no pertinent ocular history presented to an academic center with a rapidly enlarging bulbar conjunctival mass in the right perilimbal region for the past several months.

Purpose: To report an unusual case of ectopia lentis and angle closure in a patient with chronic eye rubbing.

Methods: A 57-year-old male with a history of poorly controlled atopic dermatitis presented with right eye pain, decreased vision, and an intraocular pressure (IOP) of 55 mm Hg. He had no past history of ocular disease and no reported history of trauma.

This article compares the perception of health and beauty of patients after exenteration reconstruction with free flap, eyelid-sparing, split-thickness skin graft, or with a prosthesis. Cross-sectional evaluation was performed through a survey sent to all students enrolled at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. The survey included inquiries about observer comfort, perceived patient health, difficulty of social interactions, and which patient appearance was least bothersome.

Background: The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is the most frequently injured soft tissue structure following acute lateral patellar dislocation. MPFL reconstruction has become a popular option to restore patellar stability following lateral patellar dislocation due to the high incidence of recurrent instability following conservative management. Anatomic reconstruction of the MPFL minimizes graft length changes during full knee range of motion and restores patellar stability.
