Thoracic duct injuries and chylous fistula are well-known complications of neck dissection, occurring in 1-2% of cases. Management of these injuries can be conservative or operative. Conservative treatment consists of fat restricted diet or total parenteral nutrition reducing the volume of chyle production.

Thirty-six patients with recurrent/metastatic disease with median age of 59 years were enrolled. Patients received oxaliplatin (85mg/m(2)) and FA (200mg/m(2)) followed by 5-FU (2000mg/m(2)) as 24h continuous infusion on day 1 and 15 in a 4-week cycle.

Objective: Description of a patient with a rare syndrome leading to the partial overgrowth of craniofacial bones.
Case Report: In a 17-year-old female patient with severe hyperostoses of the craniofacial bones asymmetric overgrowth of the right upper and left lower limbs, linear hyperpigmentation of the right arm and a history of regional lipomatosis were found. These manifestations were suggestive of Proteus syndrome.
The suppression and eradication of malignant tumours by targeting the endothelial cells of the tumour is one of the rapidly evolving new approaches to cancer therapy. Head and neck tumours, because of their high levels of vascularization, present themselves as ideal candidates for such antiangiogenic strategies. We report a heavily pretreated patient with a tumour 15 cm in diameter representing fourth relapse of squamous cell carcinoma, which had its origin in the upper left jaw.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The purpose of this study was to improve and accelerate the rehabilitation process for patients with severe ear microtia with an implant-anchored auricular prosthesis. A medically approved robot system was used to place the craniofacial implants and a new process was developed for preoperative fabrication of the prosthesis using a rapid prototyping technique.
Materials And Methods: Preoperatively, after computerized tomography, the implant positions were determined in a planning tool according to bone availability and esthetic considerations.
The experiences of seven patients with squamous cell carcinomas of the oral cavity who underwent reconstruction with a bioengineered human dermal replacement (Dermagraft) are examined. The human dermal replacement consists of fibroblasts seeded onto a three-dimensional polymer scaffold to create a living dermal structure. In this setting, the fibroblasts secrete a mixture of growth factors and matrix proteins in physiological concentration that is essential for wound healing and epithelization.
