Introduction: Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) represents a significant clinical challenge, with its underlying mechanisms yet to be fully elucidated. Despite advances in understanding, the precise pathophysiology driving RSA remains unclear. Angelica sinensis, a traditional herbal remedy, is frequently used as an adjunctive treatment for miscarriage.

In this work, we present a new imaging system to support real-time tumor tracking for surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT). SGRT uses optical surface imaging (OSI) to acquire real-time surface topography images of the patient on the treatment couch. This serves as a surrogate for intra-fractional tumor motion tracking to guide radiation delivery.

Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Der p) subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials of childhood allergic rhinitis (AR). Currently, there is a lack of some generally accepted biomarkers that may predict the clinical response to SCIT to eventually achieve personalized therapy. In this study, 28 children with AR received Der p SCIT for 26-30 months at baseline, and four efficacy endpoints, serum interleukin (IL)-5, periostin, Der p-specific IgE (sIgE), and Der p sIgG4, were measured by ELSIA.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers are developing new data-driven methods to create realistic lung lesions for better imaging assessments and virtual clinical trials.
  • They proposed a generative adversarial network (GAN) that generates lung lesions based on size and solidity, utilizing two discriminators focused on lesion volume and radiomics features.
  • The evaluation confirms that the generated lesions closely resemble real ones, maintaining consistent characteristics and distributions, making this approach valuable for medical imaging assessments.

Article Synopsis
  • - The Venus flytrap sea anemone, Actinoscyphia liui, is uniquely adapted to the nutrient-poor deep ocean of the tropical western Pacific, exhibiting a distinct body shape similar to the terrestrial flytrap.
  • - This study presents the assembled genome of A. liui, revealing it has only 11 chromosomes, a lower number due to chromosomal fusion, which may help it conserve energy in its nutrient-limited environment.
  • - Key gene adaptations related to cellular processes and energy metabolism were identified, supporting the anemone's survival strategies in harsh conditions, as well as genetic expansions that aid in fast responses to feeding opportunities.

Introduction: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder associated with thrombosis and adverse obstetric outcomes. Early diagnosis and intervention can improve pregnancy outcomes to some extent, but current results are unsatisfactory. Exosomes, containing biomacromolecules relevant to reproduction, play essential roles in pregnancy.

Recurrent miscarriages (RM) generally refer to two or more consecutive pregnancy losses. The risk of miscarriages grows with its frequency of occurrences, so as the future obstetric complications or longer-term health problems for patients. Most previous researches sought to discover the etiology of RM by making comparisons between patients with RM and fertile women.

Transition metal sulfides have exhibited remarkable advantages in gaseous elemental mercury (Hg) capture under high SO atmosphere, whereas the weak thermal stability significantly inhibits their practical application. Herein, a novel ,-dimethylformamide (DMF) insertion strategy via crystal growth engineering was developed to successfully enhance the Hg capture ability of MoS at an elevated temperature for the first time. The DMF-inserted MoS possesses an edge-enriched structure and an expanded interlayer spacing (9.

Objectives: To explore the ability and underlying molecular mechanisms involved in the protective effects of Baicalin (BA) against L-Glutamate-induced mouse hippocampal neuron cell line HT-22.

Materials And Methods: The cell injury model of HT-22 cells was induced by L-glutamate, and cell viability and damage were detected by CCK-8 and LDH assays. Generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) was measured by DCFH-DA fluorescence method.

The rapid development of deep-learning methods in medical imaging has called for an analysis method suitable for non-linear and data-dependent algorithms. In this work, we investigate a local linearity analysis where a complex neural network can be represented as piecewise linear systems. We recognize that a large number of neural networks consists of alternating linear layers and rectified linear unit (ReLU) activations, and are therefore strictly piecewise linear.

Copper sulfide (CuS) has received increasing attention as a promising material in gaseous elemental mercury (Hg) capture, yet how to enhance its activity at elevated temperature remains a great challenge for practical application. Herein, simultaneous improvement in the activity and thermal stability of CuS toward Hg capture was successfully achieved for the first time by controlling the crystal growth. CuS with a moderate crystallinity degree of 68.

The presence of SO display significant effect on the mercury (Hg) adsorption ability of carbon-based sorbent. Yet the adsorption and oxidation of SO on carbon with oxygen group, as well as the roles of different sulfur oxide groups in Hg adsorption have heretofore been unclear. The formation of sulfur oxide groups by SO and their effects on Hg adsorption on carbon was detailed examined by the density functional theory.

Non-circular orbits in cone-beam CT (CBCT) imaging are increasingly being studied for potential benefits in field-of-view, dose reduction, improved image quality, minimal interference in guided procedures, metal artifact reduction, and more. While modern imaging systems such as robotic C-arms are enabling more freedom in potential orbit designs, practical implementation on such clinical systems remains challenging due to obstacles in critical stages of the workflow, including orbit realization, geometric calibration, and reconstruction. In this work, we build upon previous successes in clinical implementation and address key challenges in the geometric calibration stage with a novel calibration method.

Recent years have seen the increasing application of deep learning methods in medical imaging formation, processing, and analysis. These methods take advantage of the flexibility of nonlinear neural network models to encode information and features in ways that can outperform conventional approaches. However, because of the nonlinear nature of this processing, images formed by neural networks have properties that are highly data-dependent and difficult to analyze.

The proliferation of deep learning image processing calls for a quantitative image quality assessment framework that is suitable for nonlinear, data-dependent algorithms. In this work, we propose a method to systematically evaluate the system and noise responses such that the nonlinear transfer properties can be mapped out. The method involves sampling of lesion perturbations as a function of size, contrast, as well as clinically relevant features such as shape and texture that may be important for diagnosis.

Printed phantoms hold great potential as a tool for examining task-based image quality of x-ray imaging systems. Their ability to produce complex shapes rendered in materials with adjustable attenuation coefficients allows a new level of flexibility in the design of tasks for the evaluation of physical imaging systems. We investigate performance in a fine "boundary discrimination" task in which fine features at the margin of a clearly visible "lesion" are used to classify the lesion as malignant or benign.

Attention modulates numerous stages of audiovisual integration, and studies have shown that audiovisual integration is higher in attended conditions than in unattended conditions. However, attentional resources are limited for each person, and it is not yet clear how audiovisual integration changes under different attentional loads. Here, we explored how auditory attentional load affects audiovisual integration by applying an auditory/visual discrimination task to evaluate audiovisual integration and a rapid serial auditory presentation (RSAP) task to manipulate auditory attentional resources.

Purpose: Spectral CT uses energy-dependent measurements that enable material discrimination in addition to reconstruction of structural information. Flat-panel detectors (FPDs) have been widely used in dedicated and interventional systems to deliver high spatial resolution, volumetric cone-beam CT (CBCT) in compact and OR-friendly designs. In this work, we derive a model-based method that facilitates high-resolution material decomposition in a spectral CBCT system equipped with a prototype dual-layer FPD.
