Perceived Neighbourhood Walkability and Depressive Symptoms of Rural Older Adults in Urbanisation: The Role of Community-Based Social Capital.

This study aims to explore the association between community-based social capital, namely clan identity and sense of community (SOC), and perceived neighbourhood walkability (PNW) in relation to depressive symptoms among rural older adults in urbanisation. A sample of 489 older adults in an urbanising county of Western China participated and moderated mediation analysis was utilised. PNW was negatively associated with depressive symptoms, and SOC mediated the focal association.

Butyrate modulates gut microbiota and anti-inflammatory response in attenuating cisplatin-induced kidney injury.

In our previous research, we reported that administering probiotics Lactobacillus reuteri and Clostridium butyricum (LCs) before cisplatin treatment effectively modifies structures of the gut microbiota and restore ecological balance and significantly increases butyrate levels, a process closely associated with reducing cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity. This study aims to investigate further whether the elevation of metabolite butyrate in the gut, promoted by probiotics LCs, can effectively mitigate the nephrotoxic effects of cisplatin and the progression of renal senescence in rats. Results show that butyrate administration significantly improved kidney function and decreased renal fibrosis in a dose-dependent manner compared to the cisplatin group.

Metabolic Assessment in Non-Dialysis Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the changes of different metabolites in the body fluids of non-dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) using a metabolomics approach. The goal was to identify early biomarkers of CKD progression through metabolic pathway analysis.

Patients And Methods: Plasma samples from 47 patients with stages 1-4 CKD not requiring dialysis and 30 healthy controls were analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

Internet use and physical activity among family caregivers of older adults: Evidence from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study.

This study examined the influence of Internet use on light-intensity physical activity (LPA) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) among family caregivers of older adults, utilizing data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (N = 3,194). The Tobit model and Propensity Score Matching were first used to test the focal associations. Subsequently, mediation analyses and heterogeneity analysis were conducted to explore the pathways and urban-rural disparities.

Association between short-term exposure to air pollution and respiratory diseases among children in China: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: We searched articles from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2020 in six peer-reviewed literature databases following PRISMA guidelines.

As a new tetronic acid derivative insecticide, spirotetramat has been reported to be toxic to an array of aquatic organisms. However, the toxic effects of spirotetramat on zebrafish especially at ovary are still obscure. Hereby, the acute toxicity of spirotetramat towards zebrafish（Danio rerio），as well as the changes on biochemical and histological traits of ovary were investigated.
