Controlling the tissue temperature rise during retinal laser therapy is highly desirable for predictable and reproducible outcomes of the procedure, especially with non-damaging settings. In this work, we demonstrate a method for determining the optical absorption, the thermal conductivity, and the thermal expansion coefficients of RPE and choroid using phase-resolved optical coherence tomography (pOCT). These parameters are extracted from the measured changes in the optical path length (Δ) using an axisymmetric thermo-mechanical model.

The induced electric field/current in the sacral nerve by stimulation devices for the treatment of bladder overactivity is investigated. Implanted and transcutaneous electrode configurations are considered. The electric field induced in the sacral nerve by the implanted electrode is largely affected by its surrounding tissues, which is attributable to the variation in the input impedance of the electrode.

This study presents the computational dosimetry of contact currents for grounded and ungrounded human models. The uncertainty of the quasi-static (QS) approximation of the in situ electric field induced in a grounded/ungrounded human body due to the contact current is first estimated. Different scenarios of cylindrical and anatomical human body models are considered, and the results are compared with the full-wave analysis.
