Carboazidation and diazidation were carried out on 1,3-diene compounds using TMSN as the azide source and MeCN as the cyanoalkylation reagent. This method exhibits excellent functional group tolerance, a broad substrate range, and a short reaction time, providing an effective pathway for synthesizing valuable azides. Our report introduces an unprecedented strategy for the carboazidation and diazidation of 1,3-dienes, with mechanism studies indicating that the reaction involves a radical pathway.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explores how altering the thickness of AlN nucleation layers affects the strain in GaN layers to produce longer-wavelength red InGaN mini-LEDs.
  • By increasing the AlN thickness from 15 nm to 60 nm, the peak emission wavelength of the LEDs shifted from 633 nm to 656 nm, demonstrating potential for improved light emission.
  • However, the research also found that while a thickness of 45 nm provided a good balance with an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 8.5% and a wavelength of 649 nm, increasing thickness beyond this point significantly reduced EQE.

Introduction: Overactive bladder (OAB) affects approximately 500 million people worldwide, with a higher prevalence in women than in men, significantly impacting the quality of life of female patients. Treatment options for OAB are currently limited. Previous research has proposed that electroacupuncture could be a viable treatment for OAB in women, but there is a lack of high-quality clinical evidence.

  • Cisplatin induces acute kidney injury (AKI) through mitochondrial damage and apoptosis, necessitating effective treatments.
  • The compound (+)-14,15-Dehydrovincamine, derived from Vincamine, has been found to significantly improve mitochondrial function and reduce apoptosis in renal tubular cells affected by cisplatin-induced AKI.
  • The protective mechanism of (+)-14,15-Dehydrovincamine involves inhibiting the JNK/Mff/Drp1 pathway, which helps maintain mitochondrial stability and reduces cell death during AKI.

Objective: To investigate the 1 year mortality after hip fractures in super advanced age patients and summarize the death associated risk factors in order to provide basis for targeted intervention countermeasures.

Methods: The clinical data of 332 super advanced age patients with femoral neck or intertrochanteric fractures treated by hip replacement or intramedullary femoral nail fixation from January 2015 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 128 males and 204 females with the mean age of (92.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affect the likelihood of falls in older adults, looking specifically at the role of depression as a mediator in this relationship.
  • Analysis was conducted using survey data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, employing logistic and Poisson regression models to assess the connections between ACEs and fall incidents.
  • Findings indicate that individuals with more ACEs are at a greater risk for falls, with depression partially mediating this link, and middle-aged adults, particularly males, are especially vulnerable.

Introduction: Functional constipation (FC) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder in clinical practice, with the prevalence of which increasing with age. With the increasing aging of the population worldwide, this problem is bound to become more prominent. Acupuncture is effective and recommended for the treatment of FC.

Reconstructive phase transitions involving breaking and reconstruction of primary chemical bonds are ubiquitous and important for many technological applications. In contrast to displacive phase transitions, the dynamics of reconstructive phase transitions are usually slow due to the large energy barrier. Nevertheless, the reconstructive phase transformation from β- to λ-TiO exhibits an ultrafast and reversible behavior.

This work reports a high-performance InGaN-based red-emitting LED with a strain-release interlayer (SRI) consisting of an InGaN stress-release layer (SRL) and an AlN dislocation confinement layer (DCL) in unintentionally doped GaN (u-GaN). The SRL introduces a tensile strain which could decrease the in-plane compressive stress of the u-GaN layer, while the DCL could reduce the dislocation density and thus improve the crystal quality of the u-GaN layer. Consequently, a high-efficiency InGaN-based red-emitting LED with a peak wavelength of 651 nm and an external quantum efficiency of 6.

Scavenger receptor class B type I (SRBI) promotes cell cholesterol efflux and the clearance of plasma cholesterol. Thus, deficiency causes abnormal cholesterol metabolism and hyperlipidemia. Studies have suggested that ferroptosis is involved in lipotoxicity; however, whether deficiency could induce ferroptosis remains to be investigated.

  • Calcium carbonate (CaCO) is the most common biogenic mineral on Earth, essential for various environmental processes, including climate regulation.
  • The vaterite polymorph of calcium carbonate has been a subject of controversy regarding its crystal structure for nearly 100 years.
  • Recent studies using advanced microscopy and simulations indicate that vaterite has a monoclinic lattice with pseudohexagonal symmetry, contains multiple orientation variants, and undergoes a phase transition at around 190 K, enhancing our understanding of its structure and role in biomineralization.

  • The study investigates fetal cartilage development in bovine by isolating chondrocytes from 90-day-old fetuses and analyzing gene expression using ATAC-seq and RNA-seq.
  • Researchers identified 9,686 open chromatin regions, with 45% located in promoter areas, and conducted GO and KEGG analyses highlighting processes related to growth and development.
  • Key transcription factors associated with cartilage development, including FOS, FOSL2, and NFY, were identified, contributing to a better understanding of the regulatory mechanisms in bovine cartilage formation.

The urothelium, which covers the inner surface of the bladder, is continuously exposed to a complex physical environment where it is stimulated by, and responds to, a wide range of mechanical cues. Mechanically activated ion channels endow the urothelium with functioning in the conversion of mechanical stimuli into biochemical events that influence the surface of the urothelium itself as well as suburothelial tissues, including afferent nerve fibres, interstitial cells of Cajal and detrusor smooth muscle cells, to ensure normal urinary function during the cycle of filling and voiding. However, under prolonged and abnormal loading conditions, the urothelial sensory system can become maladaptive, leading to the development of bladder dysfunction.
