In this study, we present a novel two-photon nucleus-imaging fluorescent probe called Nu-red, which is a typical donor(D)-π-acceptor(A) rotor composed of the donor (dihydroquinoline) and acceptor (pyridiniumylpentadienitrile) parts linked by a single bond. This probe offers several advantages, including long-wavelength excitation and emission (λ/λ = 610/664 nm), favorable quantum yields (1.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 168 MM patients diagnosed and treated in our institution from January 2004 to January 2014. 44 patients with a survival period exceeding 10 years were categorized into the long-term survival group, while 124 patients with a survival period of less than 10 years were categorized into the non-long-term survival group.
Aromatic cationic groups serve as crucial building blocks for the design of fluorescent probes targeting both the nucleus and mitochondria. Therefore, it is a significant challenge to develop aromatic cation-based probes that accurately image the nucleus without interference from mitochondria. However, this also presents an opportunity for rational design by modifying probes originally targeting mitochondria to redirect their targeting toward the nucleus.

It leads to an increased infection risk, which is still a major cause of mortality. The infection spectrum and characteristics have evolved with the introduction of novel agents.

However, there are conflicting results and the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we examined the effect of depleting adult microglia on spatial learning and memory under both physiological conditions and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced neuroinflammation.

Objective: The aim of this study is to elucidate the factors contributing to pseudohypercalcemia in monoclonal gammopathy and to develop a novel globulin-corrected calcium formula for clinical application.
Purpose: To investigate the relationship between obesity indices and sarcopenia in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) at different body mass index (BMI) levels.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study included 298 hospitalized postmenopausal women diagnosed with T2DM. We collected demographic, biochemical, and anthropometric data on each subject.

To develop highly effective molecular tools for intravital imaging of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), in this study, we initially designed two-photon hybrid fluorophores, and , by conjugating the classical dye 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole with the two-photon hydroxylphenyl-butadienylpyridinium fluorophore. The designed fluorophores exhibit a synergistic interaction between excited-state intramolecular proton transfer and intramolecular charge transfer mechanisms, enabling near-infrared (NIR) emission and significant Stokes shifts. Subsequently, using these fluorophores, we developed two HOCl fluorescent probes, and , by further incorporating ,-dimethylthiocarbamate as a specific recognition group for HOCl.

Background: Haemoglobinopathy refers to a group of common monogenic inherited conditions associated with variations in the haemoglobin molecule; however, there is relatively limited reporting on abnormal haemoglobinopathy in the Chinese population, especially rare abnormal haemoglobin (Hb). The aim of this study was to explore the clinical characteristics of haemoglobinopathy to supplement data for the epidemiological investigation of Hb variants in Guangdong province of China.
Methods: Peripheral blood was collected from five patients (including a family) for Complete blood count, Hb electrophoresis, High-performance liquid chromatography analysis and degenerative globin body testing.

Controlled Nutritional Status (CONUT) scores have been developed as quantitative tools that can be employed to gauge the nutritional status of individual patients. However, there has been very little research investigating the association between these CONUT scores and the function of the thyroid. As such, the present study was designed to address this research gap through the evaluation of a representative cohort of American adults.

Neuroinflammation has been implicated in cognitive deficits of neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. There is abundant evidence that the application of ghrelin, an orexigenic hormone regulating appetite and energy balance, abrogates neuroinflammation and rescues associated memory impairment. However, the underlying mechanism is uncertain.

Although specific antioxidants are known to reduce thyroid damage from oxidative stress, the relationship between the CDAI and thyroid function remains uncertain. The purpose of this study was thus to investigate this relationship in greater detail while focusing on a representative American adult population.

Objectives: Central nervous system leukemia (CNSL) is one of the main causes of recurrence and death in patients with acute leukemia. This study aims to dynamically monitor minimal residual disease (MRD) in cerebrospinal fluid and bone marrow of patients with different types of acute leukemia by flow cytometry (FCM), and to compare the timeliness and consistency of MRD detection between the 2 methods to further explore the application value of monitoring MRD in cerebrospinal fluid.
Methods: A total of 199 patients with acute leukemia admitted to the Guangdong Provincial people's Hospital between October 2018 and January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, and multiparametric FCM method was adopted to summarize and analyze MRD in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with different types of leukemia and MRD in cerebrospinal fluid and bone marrow specimens of the same patients, and its role in assessing the prognostic value of patients was discussed.
