Coal mining in the Loess Plateau can very easily generate ground cracks, and these cracks can immediately result in ventilation trouble under the mine shaft, runoff disturbance, and vegetation destruction. Advanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) high-resolution mapping and DL (Deep Learning) are introduced as the key methods to quickly delineate coal mining ground surface cracks for disaster prevention. Firstly, the dataset named the Ground Cracks of Coal Mining Area Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (GCCMA-UAV) is built, with a ground resolution of 3 cm, which is suitable to make a 1:500 thematic map of the ground crack.

In this study, the process of catalytic oxidation of methane considering radiative heat transfer was simulated using FLUENT computational software to study the effect of thermal radiation on the oxidation performance of the simulated device, and to investigate the extent to which radiative heat transfer affects the oxidation performance of the device under different operating conditions. The results show that the extent to which thermal radiation affects the oxidative performance of the equipment increases with increasing inlet temperature. When the intake temperature reaches 900K, its proportion is close to 45 %.

Article Synopsis
  • A study developed hydrogel dressings combining xanthan gum (XG) and carboxylated chitosan (CCS) with polyacrylamide (PAAm), resulting in hydrogels with strong mechanical properties and tunable strength.
  • The optimal XG/CCS ratios for tensile and compressive strengths were identified as 40/60 and 60/40, respectively, with notable adhesion to porcine skin at 3.7 kPa.
  • Additionally, these hydrogels can effectively release the antibacterial drug cephalexin, completely inactivating E. coli and S. aureus within 12 hours and proving to have excellent biocompatibility and wound healing capabilities.

Leukemia is a class of hematologic malignancies, of which acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common. Screening and diagnosis of AML are performed by microscopic examination or chemical testing of images of the patient's peripheral blood smear. In smear-microscopy, the ability to quickly identify, count, and differentiate different types of blood cells is critical for disease diagnosis.

Immunocheckpoint inhibitors have shown impressive efficacy in patients with colon cancer and other types of solid tumor that are mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR). Currently, PCR-capillary electrophoresis is one of the mainstream detection methods for dMMR, but its accuracy is still limited by germline mismatch repair (MMR) mutations, the functional redundancy of the MMR system, and abnormal methylation of MutL Homolog 1 promoter. Therefore, this study aimed to develop new biomarkers for dMMR based on artificial intelligence (AI) and pathologic images, which may help to improve the detection accuracy.

Background: Overtreatment of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) has become a common concern. This study aimed to compare clinicopathological features between PTMC and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and to explore whether surgery can confer significant survival benefits in all patients with PTC or PTMC.

Methods: Data of 145,951 patients with PTC registered in Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and 8,751 patients with PTC in our institution were retrospectively collected.

Background And Objective: Published studies proved that both pyroptosis and periodontitis owned a substantial relationship with immunity, and recent research revealed a solid correlation between periodontitis and pyroptosis. While abundant findings have confirmed pyroptosis has a strong impact on the tumor microenvironment, the function of pyroptosis in influencing the periodontitis immune microenvironment remains poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to identify pyroptosis-related genes whose expression signature can well discriminate periodontitis from healthy controls and to comprehend the role of pyroptosis in the periodontitis immune microenvironment.

7-Met, a derivative of soybean isoflavone, is a natural flavonoid compound that has been reported to have multiple signaling pathways regulation effects. This study investigated the therapeutic effects of 7-Met on mice with atopic dermatitis induced by fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), or oxazolone (OXZ). 7-Met ameliorated FITC or OXZ-induced atopic dermatitis symptoms by decreasing ear thickness, spleen index, mast cell activation, neutrophil infiltration and serum IgE levels in female BALB/c mice.

Background: Approximately 1-2% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harbor RET (rearranged during transfection) fusions. The oncogenic RET fusions could lead to constitutive kinase activation and oncogenesis.

Methods: 1746 Chinese NSCLC patients were analyzed in this study.

Background: The prevalence of patients newly diagnosed with early-stage lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is growing alongside significant advances in screening approaches. This study aimed to construct ferroptosis-related gene score (FRGscore) for predicting recurrence, explore immune-molecular characteristics, and determine the benefit of immunotherapy in distinct ferroptosis-based patterns and FRGscore-defined subgroups.

Methods: A total of 1,085 early-stage LUAD patients from four independent cohorts were included.

In this study, we prepared a novel multifunctional two-component supramolecular hydrogel (T-G hydrogel) two organic molecules in ethanol/water mixed solvents. In addition, we prepared gold nanoparticle/T-G (AuNPs/T-G) composite hydrogels using T-G hydrogel as a template for stabilizing AuNPs by adding HAuCl and NaBH during the heating and cooling process of T-G hydrogels. The morphology and microstructure of the as-prepared hydrogels were characterized using SEM, TEM, XRD, and FT-IR.

Article Synopsis
  • Melatonin (Mel) and its receptors, specifically MT1 and MT2, show promise in alleviating pain, but their role in neuropathic pain (NP) remains largely unclear.
  • In experiments using a sciatic nerve cuffing model, MT2 expression was found to increase in the dorsal root ganglia (DRGs) of mice, and Mel was shown to reduce pain behaviors linked to mechanical and thermal sensitivity.
  • The study indicates that MT2 plays a crucial role in Mel's analgesic effects by influencing MAPK-calcium signaling pathways and down-regulating neuro-inflammation markers, while also highlighting that the effects of Mel can occur through MT2-independent mechanisms.
