Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) is an important indicator for assessing the merit of natural plants and foods. Herein, a visual TAC assay is developed based on the oxidase-like activity of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes loaded with Fe nanoparticles (FeNPs@NCNT), which is prepared via high-temperature pyrolysis of metal-organic framework precursors and can catalyze the oxidation of colorless -phenylenediamine (OPD) to colored 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP). The addition of antioxidants (e.

The apelin receptor (APJR) emerges as a promising drug target for cardiovascular health and muscle regeneration. While prior research unveiled the structural versatility of APJR in coupling to Gi proteins as a monomer or dimer, the dynamic regulation within the APJR dimer during activation remains poorly understood. In this study, we present the structures of the APJR dimer and monomer complexed with its endogenous ligand apelin-13.

Two-dimensional (2D) high-entropy transition metal dichalcogenides (HETMDs) have gained significant interest due to their structural properties and correlated possibilities for high-end devices. However, the controlled synthesis of 2D HETMDs presents substantial challenges owing to the distinction in the inherent characteristics among diverse metal elements in the synthesis, such as saturated vapor pressure of precursors and formation energy of products. Here, we present the synthesis of a 2D HETMD single crystal with 0.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the preservation of the anterior edge of the vertebral body affects the cage subsidence and clinical outcomes after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) using zero-profile cages.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 86 patients who underwent 1-3 levels of ACDF using zero-profile cages between December 2017 and June 2023. According to whether the anterior edge was protected, the patients were divided into an intact group and a defect group.

In this study, we successfully synthesized a δ-MnO cathode with O vacancies, encapsulated by C derived from pyromellitic acid, using a facile hydrothermal method followed by annealing in an Ar atmosphere. The cathode's structural stability and charge transfer kinetics are enhanced by inhibiting the formation of the by-product ZnSO(OH)·4HO, regulating the Mn valence state, and suppressing the Jahn-Teller effect through the synergy of C encapsulation and O vacancies. This results in remarkable electrochemical performance, including a large capacity of 421.

  • Metastatic osteosarcoma is a serious cancer in teenagers with low survival rates and limited treatment options, particularly because cancer stem cells drive its spread.
  • Researchers are exploring retinoic acid (ATRA) as a potential treatment for targeting these stem cells, but it has significant drawbacks like poor solubility and stability.
  • To enhance effectiveness, a new nanoparticle called T-ATRA was developed to deliver ATRA more efficiently, showing better results in reducing cancer stem cells and metastasis in lab mice, leading to longer survival rates.

Epidemiological studies have demonstrated exposure to cadmium ion (Cd) is significantly associated with the incidence and aggravation of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Cd exposure could alter lipid metabolism, and changed lipid metabolites are significantly associated with NASH. Arachidonic acid (ArA) is an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid.

Single-cell multi-omics integration enables joint analysis at the single-cell level of resolution to provide more accurate understanding of complex biological systems, while spatial multi-omics integration is benefit to the exploration of cell spatial heterogeneity to facilitate more comprehensive downstream analyses. Existing methods are mainly designed for single-cell multi-omics data with little consideration of spatial information and still have room for performance improvement. A reliable multi-omics integration method designed for both single-cell and spatially resolved data is necessary and significant.

Cholesterol is an important lipid compound found in a variety of foods, and its level in human blood is closely related to human health. Therefore, development of rapid and accurate POCT (point-of-care testing) methods for cholesterol detection is crucial for assessing food quality and early diagnosis of diseases, in particular, in a resource-limited environment. In this study, a smartphone-assisted colorimetric biosensor is constructed based on platinum,phosphorus-codoped carbon nitride (PtCNP) for the rapid detection of cholesterol.

High-entropy oxides (HEOs) with an ultrathin geometric structure are especially expected to exhibit extraordinary performance in different fields. The phase structure is deemed as a key factor in determining the properties of HEOs, rendering their phase control synthesis tempting. However, the disparity in intrinsic phase structures and physicochemical properties of multiple components makes it challenging to form single-phase HEOs with the target phase.

The rational design of multifunctional biomaterials with hierarchical porous structure and on-demand biological activity is of great consequence for bone tissue engineering (BTE) in the contemporary world. The advanced combination of trace element cerium ions (Ce) with bone repair materials makes the composite material capable of promoting angiogenesis and enhancing osteoblast activity. Herein, a living and phosphorylated injectable porous hydrogel microsphere (P-GelMA-Ce@BMSCs) is constructed by microfluidic technology and coordination reaction with metal ion ligands while loaded with exogenous BMSCs.

The periosteum plays a vital role in the regeneration of critical-size bone defects and highly comminuted fractures, promoting the differentiation of osteoblasts, accelerating the reconstruction of the vascular network, and guiding bone tissue regeneration. However, the materials loaded with exogenous growth factors are limited by the release and activity of the elements. Therefore, the material structure must be carefully designed for the periosteal function.
