In this study, a robust and validated UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method was developed to quantify anserine and carnosine levels and their ratios to distinguish the geographical origin of red seabream (Pagrus major) from Japan and Korea. Comprehensive optimization of column types, mobile phase pH, organic solvent ratios, and internal standards identified the optimal conditions: an HILIC column at pH 5 with 75 % acetonitrile and PEH as the internal standard. The method exhibited excellent sensitivity, linearity, accuracy, and precision, establishing anserine as the most reliable biomarker for origin discrimination.

However, the discharge of nuclear wastewater into the sea following the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan has led to violations of the country of origin labeling. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the origin of fish based on fatty acid, amino acid, and mineral analyses, and to develop biomarkers that can discriminate between Japanese and Korean red seabream.

Targeting senescent chondrocytes or signaling mechanisms leading to senescence could be a promising new therapeutic approach for OA treatment. However, understanding the key targets and links between chondrocyte senescence and OA remains unclear.

For instance, compound K (CK) is a major metabolite of ginsenosides that is known to protect against joint degeneration by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of immune cells. However, its effects on cartilage degradation and tissue regeneration remain unclear.

The yellow goosefish is a benthic fish that belongs to the family Lophiidae and order Lophiiformes and is distributed in the Yellow and East China Seas. This study aimed to distinguish between yellow goosefish from different geographical origins by analyzing their metabolites. Capillary electrophoresis time-of-flight mass spectrometry was used to analyze metabolite profiles in the muscle tissues of yellow goosefish to distinguish between Korean and Chinese yellow goosefish.

As nuclear wastewater is discharged into Japanese waterbodies, the country of origin of marine products must be accurately labeled. Here, we aimed to discover candidate metabolite biomarkers to discriminate between Korean and Japanese red seabream using LC-Orbitrap mass spectrometry.

This opens up a new possibility for detecting toxic molecules (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, toluene, and ammonia) in real-time (<3 s) at relatively high sensitivity (<5 ppm). An optimized electrical controller (Raspberry Pi), manufactured as a compact and economical 3-channel optical measuring device, was developed for handling the high-resolution time-resolved electrical signals from the plasma emissions.

South Korean and Japanese red seabreams have a general distribution pattern; however, distinguishing them based on their geographical origin is difficult. In this study, we used capillary electrophoresis time-of-flight mass spectrometry (CE-TOF/MS) to analyze the red seabream muscle metabolome to investigate how can distinguish the origin of the fish.

Identifying the source of fine dust is indispensable for ensuring the human lifespan as well as preventing environmental disasters. Here a simple yet effective spark-induced plasma spectroscopy (SIPS) unit combined with deep learning for real-time classification is verified as a fast and precise PM (particulate matter) source identification technique.

Coronavirus has long been known to be non-infectious when airborne; however, studies are starting to show that the virus can infect through airborne transmission and can remain airborne for a significant period of time. In the present study, a spark-induced plasma spectroscopy was devised to characterize the air propagation of the virus in real-time.

Background: Prolonged ischemic time is a risk factor for primary graft dysfunction in patients who undergo heart transplantation. We investigated the effect of a supplemental cardioplegia infusion before anastomosis in patients with long ischemic times.
Methods: We identified 236 consecutive patients who underwent orthotopic heart transplantation between February 2010 and December 2014.
A growing modern-day concern is fine dust air pollution that contains heavy metals and ammonium ions (NH) from industrial and agricultural waste sources, respectively. In the current study, the development of an innovative and effective technique for real-time, quantitative monitoring of toxic fine dust components using plasma emission spectroscopy is presented as a complement to emergency preparedness plans aimed at reducing dust pollution. A novel spark-induced plasma spectroscopic (SIPS) device that can control the frequency and magnitude of plasma was developed for the toxic pollutants in this work.

Accordingly, we employed various non-calorimetric methods to investigate the thermal performance of pyrotechnic delay, which is exposed to various moisture-rich conditions at extended durations. The chemical and physical changes in the compositions of a pyrotechnic delay comprised of metal fuel (Zr-Ni alloy) and oxidants (KClO, BaCrO) are analysed for four different relative humidity levels using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy.
