: Tracheal intubation in the Sellick and Trendelenburg position (ST position) can prevent pulmonary aspiration but increase the difficulty of tracheal intubation. We compared tracheal intubation using video and direct laryngoscopy in the ST position with direct laryngoscopy in the supine sniffing position to evaluate the overall intubation performance. : One hundred and twenty patients were randomly assigned to three groups: direct laryngoscope in the supine sniffing position (control), direct laryngoscope in the ST position (ST direct), and video laryngoscope in the ST position (ST video).

The Effect of Sex on the Remimazolam Dosage Required for Successful i-gel Supraglottic Airway Insertion with Remifentanil in Non-Paralyzed Patients: An Up-and-Down Sequential Allocation Trial.

The physiological and pharmacological variations between men and women are known to influence drug efficacy. The objective of this study was to determine the 50% and 95% effective doses (ED and ED) of remimazolam required for i-gel supraglottic airway (ISA) insertion under remifentanil infusion without neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) in both males and females. Patients aged 19-65 years, scheduled for general anesthesia using ISA, were enrolled in this study.

Schwannoma Presenting as a Scalp Mass: A Case Report with Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings.

A schwannoma can develop anywhere along the course of nerves. However, a schwannoma presenting as a scalp nodule is rare. Here, we present a rare case of schwannoma on the scalp with a review of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, which was initially misdiagnosed as an epidermal cyst or vascular malformation despite various radiologic examinations.

Clinical efficacy of herbal extracts in treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris: an 8-week, double-blinded, randomized, controlled trial.

Background: Herbal extracts with fewer adverse effects can be an alternative to these drugs because they can target various molecular pathways of acne pathogenesis.

Congenital Dermal Melanocytosis on the Foot: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Dermal melanocytosis is a common pigmented skin disease, characterized by an increased number of ectopic melanocytes in the dermis. Rare variants of dermal melanocytosis that do not belong to these four typical groups-nevus of Ota, nevus of Ito, blue nevus, and Mongolian spots-are called dermal melanocyte hamartoma, or congenital dermal melanocytosis (CDM) as it mostly appears from birth. We report a case of CDM on the foot of a young woman with a literature review of previously reported cases of CDM.

Demographic and clinical features of hidradenitis suppurativa in Korea.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory skin disorder. Although several epidemiological studies have been conducted in Western countries, such data regarding Asian populations are scarce. In this study, we sought to investigate the demographic and clinical features of HS in Korea.

Eccrine Poroma with Rapid Growth during Pregnancy: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Eccrine poroma is a benign solitary tumor with acrosyringeal differentiation that usually occurs on the sole or either side of the foot. Rapid growth of eccrine poroma during pregnancy has rarely been reported. We demonstrate a unique case of a 37-year-old pregnant woman who suffered from enlarged eccrine poroma on her left palm, which was tiny for 10 years but suddenly grew to a size of bean-sized reddish brown colored, pedunculated mass during pregnancy.

Pagetoid Bowen Disease Initially Misdiagnosed as Ectopic Extramammary Paget's Disease.

Pagetoid Bowen disease is a histological variant of Bowen disease which demonstrates large pale staining cells (pagetoid cells). It requires differential diagnosis from other cutaneous malignancies with similar patterns, such as extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) and Pagetoid melanoma . Herein, we report a case of Pagetoid Bowen disease which was initially misdiagnosed as ectopic EMPD.

Despite lots of research on the pathogenesis of acne, the development of new therapeutic agents is still stagnant. Conventional agents which target multiple pathological processes have some serious side effects and this makes seeking new treatment options important for treating acne. As new therapeutic options, researchers are focusing on natural products, synthetic drugs and devices.

Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which contains large amounts of growth factors has been tried to enhance therapeutic efficacy of laser treatment for acne scar with unknown underlying mechanism.

Objectives: The present study was conducted to investigate the molecular mechanism of increased clinical efficacy of PRP when combined with fractional laser treatment for treating acne scars.

Methods: Subjects with mild to moderate acne scars were treated with two sessions of fractional CO laser therapy given with and without co-administration of PRP.

Morgellons disease is a rare disease with unknown etiology. Herein, we report the first case of Morgellons disease in Korea. A 30-year-old woman presented with a 2-month history of pruritic erythematous patches and erosions on the arms, hands, and chin.
